Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This is a second edition of the Special Issue “Host–Microbial Interactions”. https://www.mdpi.com/journal/cells/special_issues/6R8US1OH5J.

Viruses are obligatory intercellular microorganisms that exploit cellular machinery for the establishment of successful infection. On the other hand, host cells exert multi-layered defense to combat viral infections. The outcome of this virus–host interaction determines the state of health and disease. This decisive interaction spans from the basic to the molecular level of the virus life cycle, inherently rooted in the host genetics, immunity, cell biology, and molecular signaling. Insights into the viral modulation of cellular pathways are prerequisites for developing novel antivirals, vaccine delivery routes, and innovative modulatory and therapeutic directions.

This Special Issue invites reviews and research articles addressing current knowledge of the virus–host interactions and aims to generate fruitful dialog on aspects that shape the host cellular factors and signaling pathways important for the pathobiology of virus-induced diseases.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Cells is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
