Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue is the second edition of a previous Issue on the topic of "Current Progress in the Clinical Management and Basic Science of Head and Neck Cancer”.

Every year, more than 800,000 patients are newly diagnosed with HNSCC worldwide, and approximately 450,000 patients die from the disease. Cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, and viral infections are recognized as they major factors contributing to HNSCC. In addition to surgery and chemoradiotherapy, molecularly targeted therapies and immunotherapies have become the main treatment options for HNSCC. As both basic and clinical research in this field have rapidly progressed in recent years, it is increasingly important for clinicians to understand the underlying biology of HNSCC in order to select appropriate therapies in the emerging era of personalized medicine.

In this Special Issue of Cancers, we welcome original research articles and review papers addressing clinical advances in the treatment of HNSCC, as well as basic research on its carcinogenesis, tumor microenvironment and microbiome, and antitumor immunity. Reports of clinical experience or case series are also acceptable, provided they address particularly novel or clinically relevant topics within the field.
