Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Investigating cell signaling pathways has always been a hot topic in cancer research. Especially in relation to leukemia, this matter is becoming more and more explored because of the expression of common oncogenic kinase proteins, additional mutations via clonal evolution, and the bone marrow-mediated activation/alteration of intracellular signals in cells. While the former strongly involves leukemic malignant transformation, the latter two concern contributions to therapeutic resistance, driving disease relapse. Recent advances in this research area have improved the understanding of the cell signaling pathways in leukemogenesis and drug response. However, leukemia cells can evolve to acquire alternative signaling pathways to survive under therapeutic stress and reproduce more aggressive malignant cells, driving rapid relapses in patients. Therefore, further studies in the field of leukemia cell signaling are critical to enhance the knowledge in this area and to explore more efficient targeted therapies to eliminate disease relapse. As such, we are launching a Special Issue entitled “Leukemia Cell Signaling Pathways: Recent Advances, Future Perspectives, and Potential Clinical Applications” in Cancers; we are pleased to invite you to submit your research to this Special Issue.

The major aim of this Special Issue is to publish high-quality articles in basic, translational, and clinical research of leukemia cell signaling. Preferential articles must provide scientifically innovative aspects of cell signaling which are associated with leukemic transformation, drug resistance, and potential therapeutic discovery. Special consideration is directed to mechanistic studies, producing both in vitro and in vivo data, as well as employing modern cell/molecular biology technologies such as multi-omics analyses, genome editing, and single cell sequencing.

For this Special Issue, we welcome the submission of manuscripts in both the review and original research categories. The research theme of this Special Issue includes (but is not limited to) the following: (1) addressing current issues and discussing future perspectives in leukemia cell signaling; (2) reporting novel basic knowledge in this area; (3) mechanistic studies of cell signaling drug resistance in leukemia; (4) identification of potential therapeutic targets in cell signaling for the treatment of leukemia; and (5) leukemia clinical research using cell signaling-based interventions. We are particularly interested in studies relating to cell signaling in the bone marrow niche/microenvironment and the development of precision medicine in leukemia.
