Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Gynaecological cancer management is continuously evolving in different areas, including screening for early detection, diagnosis and treatment.  Significant potential developments are progressively explored and many are rapidly being introduced into clinical practice.  Some of the developments are in how medical practitioners carry out their work more effectively, efficiently and with more precision.  Other developments address more novel and diverse therapeutic options.   A thorough and up-to-date knowledge of gynaecological tumour pathology is critical to support making the correct diagnosis and planning the most suitable management of each individual patient.  Many studies investigate the molecular profile of tumours, uncovering molecular changes that support a revised classification of some entities, identify new entities and discover new therapeutic targets.  As these new discoveries add to the already immense workload and responsibilities for pathologists, there are also studies looking into how to harness new technologies to assist pathologists in integrating new developments into their workflow.  These technologies include digital pathology and applied AI algorithms that can be built on this facility.  The aim of this issue is to provide an update on different aspects of the pathology of gynaecological cancers for all professionals involved in gynaecological cancer management.
