Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Patrimonial cement and lime kilns are often poorly valorised, though they are often linked to local history and geology. In most cases, they are still familiar in local communities, sometimes with initiatives for visits, but a broad international audience often lack access to this information due to language barriers. Hence, this Special Issue aims to collate case studies from all around the world.
Based on historical, geological, and photographical archives, this Special Issue welcomes submissions from specialists across various disciplines and the crossovers between them. Case studies should include illustrations that show the now and then of important locations. Geological specificities that have led to the opening of kilns should be emphasized. Initiatives of conservation, with the digitization of industrial heritage on a local or national scale, should also be explored.
