Dear Colleagues,
Advances in the neuroscience of higher-order cognition are exciting and intriguing. In humans and non-humans, neural systems exist to support cognitive strategies that navigate the world, often engaging the self in relation to the world. These relationships can be social (e.g., conflict resolution, mating, etc.) or non-social (estimating task success). In this Special Issue of Brain Sciences, we welcome review and original articles addressing issues of the self, which could include introspection, Theory of Mind and motor perception. Additionally, this Special Issue welcomes cutting-edge research from all branches, including (but not limited to) comparative studies, neuroimaging, case studies and molecular and behavioral genetics. Papers that focus on disorders are also encouraged. These could include (but, again, are not limited to) autism, Williams syndrome and narcissism. We are excited to receive your articles. Original research is encouraged, but review papers will also be accepted.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Brain Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
