Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Cognitive impairment and neuropsychological deficits are prevalent in various psychiatric disorders, and significantly impact patients' quality of life and functional outcomes. Historically, research has focused on understanding these impairments in conditions such as schizophrenia, depression, and bipolar disorder, revealing a complex interplay between cognitive dysfunction and psychiatric symptoms.
This Special Issue aims to consolidate current knowledge and foster new research regarding the cognitive impairments associated with mental disorders. It seeks to explore the underlying neurobiological mechanisms, assess the nature and severity of cognitive impairments, analyze the impact of these deficits on daily functioning, and evaluate innovative therapeutic approaches.
We welcome contributions that highlight recent advancements in neuroimaging, neuropsychological assessments, and biomarker identification. Studies that employ novel methodologies to elucidate the pathophysiology, assessment, and treatment of cognitive deficits in people with mental disorders are particularly encouraged.
We welcome the submission of original research articles, comprehensive reviews, meta-analyses, and case studies that provide new insights into cognitive impairments in mental disorders. Submissions that propose novel interventions or therapeutic strategies, as well as those that address the translational potential of research findings, are particularly welcomed.
