CRISPR-Directed Gene Editing: Molecular Approaches to Cancer Therapeutics

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

With the evolution of CRISPR-directed gene editing for the treatment of human diseases, the field of genetic medicine now holds more promise than ever. While most applications of gene editing tools for cancer have been indirect, such as the remodeling of T cells, direct in vivo strategies are beginning to emerge. In this Special Issue, we request contributions that center on using editors that orchestrate direct genetic changes within the tumor genome. We invite submissions exploring CRISPR gene editing from fundamental mechanism-of-action studies to translational applications in cancer therapy. Topics of interest include molecular insights of CRISPR/Cas systems in cancer-based models; novel approaches for altering the tumor microenvironment or disrupting oncogenic pathways; strategies for improving safety, efficiency, or precision of CRISPR/Cas systems for cancer therapy; and diagnostic applications of CRISPR technologies as tools for detection or molecular profiling. We accept submissions that describe novel delivery mechanisms that advance our knowledge of tissue or tumor-specific targeting, delivering the gene editing payload to the cell type where it can have the most positive impact.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Biomolecules is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
