Dear Colleagues,
The Special Issue, “Molecular Genetics and Immunogenomics of Fishes”, will focus on the molecular mechanisms that govern genome evolution, immune system function, and host–environment interactions in fish species. Particular emphasis will be placed on integrative approaches that combine genomics, immunology, and computational biology to elucidate the genetic architecture of disease resistance, adaptation, and phenotypic plasticity.
The scope includes, but is not limited to: comparative and population genomics; transcriptomics and epigenomics and epitranscriptomic, functional genomics (including CRISPR/Cas and gene editing technologies); host–pathogen interactions; immune gene evolution; systems immunology; biomarker discovery; and the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning for genome annotation, predictive modeling, and multi-omics integration. Both fundamental and applied studies relevant to aquaculture sustainability, conservation genetics, and climate resilience are welcome.
The purpose of this Special Issue is to consolidate cutting-edge research in fish molecular genetics and immunogenomics, foster interdisciplinary dialogue, and promote innovative methodologies that enhance both fundamental biological understanding and practical applications in aquaculture and ecosystem management
Although substantial advances have been made in fish genomics and immunology, the literature remains fragmented across disciplines, often separating evolutionary genomics, functional immunology, and applied aquaculture research. Moreover, emerging areas such as non-coding RNA regulation, genome editing validation, and artificial intelligence-driven analyses are rapidly expanding but are not yet comprehensively integrated within a single thematic platform.
This Special Issue will usefully supplement the existing literature by providing a focused and integrative forum that bridges molecular genetics, immunogenomics, and advanced computational approaches. By highlighting multi-omics studies and functional validation strategies, it will help move the field beyond descriptive genomics toward mechanistic and predictive frameworks. In doing so, it will contribute to consolidating recent advances, identifying knowledge gaps, and defining future research directions in fish molecular biology and immunogenomics.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process.
