Innovations in Precision Smart Environmental Control for Sustainable Facility Agriculture

This special issue belongs to the section “Agricultural Technology“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In recent years, the demand for efficient and sustainable agricultural practices has surged, driven by the need to ensure food security and minimize environmental impact. Precision smart environmental control technologies and algorithms have emerged as essential tools in facility agriculture, encompassing greenhouses, livestock systems, and other controlled environments. These innovations enable growers to optimize environmental conditions, enhance plant and livestock productivity, and reduce resource consumption.

The aim of this Special Issue is to explore the latest developments in precision control systems and relevant advanced algorithms applied to environment control in facility agriculture. It seeks to highlight cutting-edge research, innovative solutions, and practical implementations that drive efficiency, sustainability, and resilience in agricultural systems.

The articles in this Special Issue shall cover a broad range of topics, including but not limited to, precision climate control in greenhouses, smart ventilation systems in livestock facilities, environmental impact on animal behavior or plant production, and the application of AI and machine learning algorithms to optimize agricultural environmental operations.

We are soliciting papers that showcase innovative research on Precision Smart Environmental Control in Facility Agriculture. We are particularly interested in papers that demonstrate the use of new technologies and equipment, as well as those that explore the practical implications of their research. We welcome original research articles, review articles, and case studies that provide valuable insights into this important topic.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Agriculture is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
