Cover Story: Cholestyramine, traditionally used as a bile acid sequestrant, could be an effective adjunct therapy for rapidly lowering thyroid hormone levels in severe hyperthyroidism and thyrotoxicosis, though it may be rarely used. By interrupting enterohepatic recycling, it accelerates the reduction of circulating T3 and T4, being particularly useful when conventional treatments are insufficient, contraindicated, or when rapid hormonal control is required.
