Cover Story: An advanced methodology was introduced to evaluate the risk occurrences of extremes in historical and future periods. The approach was designed to create intensity, duration, and return periods curves that can assess multi-hazard scenarios associated with hazards such as heat waves, cold waves, wildfires, extreme precipitation and wind. The approach can be applied to one or multiple locations that have diverse climate conditions. It can help to assess their vulnerability to climate change by studying the behavior of extremes. The curves can represent extreme scenarios and the respective extreme can be assessed by its persistence. It can be quantified by how extreme it could potentially be. The analysis showed how the curves change over time and space, leading to different interpretations of extreme events under a changing climate in Greece. View this paper
