There was an error in the original publication [1]. We missed acknowledging that the outline and approach were adapted from reference 1 [2] in our article.
A correction has been made to the end of Introduction.
Please add the following to the end of the Introduction:
This study builds upon the methodologies established in the Fahs Aquifer investigation [1], extending their application to the Mateur Plain. While the Fahs study focused on delineating the geometry of shallow Quaternary aquifers through the use of VES, well logs, and satellite imagery, the current research incorporates advanced datasets, such as Sentinel-2 satellite imagery and a more extensive borehole network, to analyze both Quaternary and Campanian aquifers. This continuity in methodology provides a consistent framework while adapting to the unique geological characteristics of the Mateur region, including its complex multi-layer aquifer system and the hydrological influences of the Joumine River and Ichkeul Lake. Moreover, the study directly builds on the structural insights of the Fahs investigation, refining and expanding the approach to identify tectonic lineaments and aquifer and sub-aquifer systems. By applying the same methodological framework to a new setting, this research not only validates the broader applicability of these techniques but also provides valuable insights into the distinct stratigraphic structures and hydrological dynamics of the Mateur Plain.
The authors state that the scientific conclusions are unaffected. This correction was approved by the Academic Editor. The original publication has also been updated.
