Cover Story: In this study, state-of-the-art impact assessment methods were used to generate a wide range of environmental impact categories of hydrogen production methods at the midpoint and endpoint level. A novel outcome of the study alongside the common set of impact categories was to quantify the impact of water consumption and related effects on the area of protection. The insights obtained contributed to a better understanding of the environmental impacts with up-to-date scientific knowledge. View this paper
