Catalysts, Volume 15, Issue 1

January 2025 - 98 articles

Cover Story: The drive toward carbon neutrality has catalyzed significant advancements in sustainable hydrogen production and storage, thereby underscoring the critical role of methanol steam reforming (MSR) technology. Central to this process are the catalysts, which are indispensable for its efficiency. This review offers an in-depth exploration of the two principal categories of catalysts employed in the MSR reaction: copper- and noble metal-based catalysts. It examines not only the function of each catalyst component but also delves into their active sites, structure–activity relationships, and reaction and deactivation mechanisms. The insights provided herein are poised to contribute to the continued development of more efficient catalysts for MSR. View this paper
