Cover Story: Photocatalysis is an efficient method to degrade organic pollutants in wastewater. Several parameters affect the process and the selection of the process operating parameters leading to a maximal pollutant degradation is not a straightforward task. In our study, we used response surface methodology (RSM) to analyze the photocatalytic degradation of phenol with graphitic carbon nitride and visible-light blue LED. To minimize the number of experiments, the Box Behnken design was applied for the design of experiments (DoE). The photocatalytic degradation of phenol was correlated with three independent process parameters using a second-order polynomial equation. The obtained correlation is very useful for the analysis of the process, selection of the process parameters, and optimization of pollutant degradation. View this paper
