Topic Information

Dear Colleagues,

The contemporary digital landscape is undergoing a seismic transformation, driven by waves of technological innovation. This digital tsunami, powered by breakthroughs in generative AI, blockchain, quantum computing, 5G, and augmented reality, is reshaping industries, consumer behaviour, business models, and societal norms at an unprecedented pace.

This Topic aims to present cutting-edge research that explores the following:

  • The systemic impact of digital disruption across sectors such as e-commerce, marketing, education, healthcare, and finance;
  • Organizational resilience and strategic adaptation in the face of technological volatility;
  • Ethical and regulatory challenges in rapidly evolving digital environments;
  • The transformation of consumer behaviour in response to hyper-personalization and automation;
  • Innovation management under conditions of uncertainty and accelerated change.

The aim of this Topic is to foster a multidisciplinary and critical dialogue on how individuals, organizations, and societies can successfully navigate the shockwaves of digital disruption, turning challenges into opportunities for sustainable growth and innovation. We invite contributions that investigate digital platforms, data-driven personalization, omnichannel integration, and emerging technologies from AI-driven services to immersive experiences that are redefining value creation across the customer journey.

This study proposes a multidimensional decision-support model for assessing the strategic implications of Digital Transformation (DT) in SMEs under conditions of uncertainty. The study addresses the challenge of measuring the digital impact of DT across value creation, strategic management maturity, and sustainability dimensions. A conceptual framework grounded in strategic management and digital transformation literature is operationalized using the Fuzzy TOPSIS method. A controlled stochastic simulation was conducted to generate a synthetic dataset representing 30 heterogeneous SMEs for computational model-validation purposes. The proposed framework generates three dimension-level performance indices and one aggregated Global Digital Impact Index (GDII). The simulation results illustrate the analytical potential of the framework to support multidimensional digital impact assessment under uncertainty. The study contributes a fuzzy-based evaluation framework capable of integrating value creation, strategic management maturity, and sustainability within a unified digital impact assessment model.
