To address the unclear vibration failure mechanism and the lack of system-level reliability evaluation methods for multirotor transport UAVs under complex operating conditions, this paper proposes a comprehensive analysis method that combines fluid–structure interaction dynamics with dynamic reliability theory. First, the study analyzes rotor dynamics and vibration characteristics under bidirectional fluid–structure coupling and obtains vibration displacement data. Then, it builds a dynamic reliability model using the Second-Order Reliability Method (SORM) and the Laplace method. The model explores reliability evolution in a dynamic airflow coupling environment. Finally, it establishes a multi-rotor UAV system reliability evaluation method and analyzes the impact of rotor number and layout on system reliability. The results provide a theoretical basis for structural optimization, reliability assurance, and fault tolerance improvement of multi-rotor UAVs under complex conditions. Full article

Copper alloys are critical heat sink materials for fusion reactor divertors due to their high thermal conductivity (TC) and strength, yet their performance under extreme particle bombardment and heat fluxes in future tokamaks requires enhancement. While neutron-induced transmutation helium affects the properties of copper, the atomistic mechanisms linking helium bubble size to thermal transport remain unclear. This study employs non-equilibrium molecular dynamics (NEMD) simulations to isolate the effect of bubble diameter (10, 20, 30, 40 Å) on TC in copper, maintaining a constant He-to-vacancy ratio of 2.5. Results demonstrate that larger bubbles significantly impair TC. This reduction correlates with increased Kapitza thermal resistance and pronounced lattice distortion from outward helium diffusion, intensifying phonon scattering. Phonon density of states (PDOS) analysis reveals diminished low-frequency peaks and an elevated high-frequency peak for bubbles >30 Å, confirming phonon confinement and localized vibrational modes. The PDOS overlap factor decreases with bubble size, directly linking microstructural evolution to thermal resistance. These findings elucidate the size-dependent mechanisms of helium bubble impacts on thermal transport in copper divertor materials. Full article

The safety of lithium-ion batteries during transportation is critically important. However, current standards exhibit limitations, as their environmental testing parameter thresholds fail to fully encompass actual transportation conditions. To enhance both safety and standard applicability, in this study, we focused on four representative environmental conditions: temperature, vibration, shock, and low atmospheric pressure. Field measurements were conducted across road, rail, and air transport modes using a self-developed data acquisition system based on the NearLink communication technology. The measured data were then compared with the threshold values defined in current international and national standards. The results reveal that certain measured values exceeded the upper limits prescribed by existing standards, indicating limitations in their applicability under extreme transport conditions. Based on these findings, we propose revised testing parameters that better reflect actual transport risks, including a temperature cycling range of 72 ± 2 °C (high) and −40 ± 2 °C (low), a shock acceleration limit of 50 gn, adjusted peak frequencies in the vibration PSD profile, and a minimum pressure threshold of 11.6 kPa. These results provide a scientific basis for optimising safety standards and improving the safety of lithium-ion battery transportation. Full article

In order to address vibration and noise challenges in modern industry while satisfying the lightweighting requirements for aerospace and transportation applications, the development of polymer elastomers integrating both lightweight and high-damping properties holds substantial significance. This study developed polyurethane (PU) with optimized damping and mechanical properties at room temperature through monomer composition optimization. Hollow glass microspheres (HGMs) were introduced into the PU matrix to increase stiffness and reduce density, though this resulted in decreased tensile strength (Rm) and loss factor (tanδ). To further improve mechanical and damping properties, we applied a carbon coating to the surface of the HGMs to optimize the interface between the HGMs and the PU matrix, and systematically investigated the energy dissipation and load-bearing behavior of PU composites. The effect of enhanced interface damping of HGM@C/PU resulted in broadening of the effective damping temperature range (tanδ ≥ 0.3) and higher maximum loss factor (tanδmax) compared to HGM/PU at equivalent filler loading. The tensile and dynamic properties significantly improved due to optimized interfacial adhesion. In PU composites reinforced with 10 wt% HGM and HGM@C, a 46.8% improvement in Rm and 11.0% improvement in tanδmax occurred after carbon coating. According to acoustic testing, average transmission loss of HGM/PU and HGM@C/PU with the same filler content showed a difference of 0.3–0.5 dB in 500–6300 Hz, confirming that the hollow structure of the HGMs was preserved during carbon coating. Functionally graded materials (FGMs) have the potential to revolutionize the oil and gas transportation sector, due to their increased strengths and efficiencies as pipelines. Conventional pipelines frequently face serious problems such as extreme weather, pressure changes, corrosion, and stress-induced pipe bursts. By analyzing the mechanical and thermal performance of FGM-based pipes under various operating conditions, this study investigates the possibility of using them as a more reliable substitute. In the current study, the post-buckling and nonlinear vibration behaviors of pipes composed of FGMs transporting heavy crude oil were examined using a Timoshenko beam framework. The material properties of the FGM pipe were observed to change gradually across the thickness, following a power-law distribution, and were influenced by temperature variations. In this regard, two types of FGM pipes are considered: one with a metal-rich inner surface and ceramic-rich outer surface, and the other with a reverse configuration featuring metal on the outside and ceramic on the inside. The nonlinear governing equations (NGEs) describing the system’s nonlinear dynamic response were formulated by considering nonlinear strain terms through the von Kármán assumptions and employing Hamilton’s principle. These equations were then discretized using Galerkin’s method to facilitate the analytical investigation. The Runge–Kutta method was employed to address the nonlinear vibration problem. It is concluded that, compared with pipelines made from conventional materials, those constructed with FGMs exhibit enhanced thermal resistance and improved mechanical strength. Full article

The aim of this paper is to tailor the geometry and material parameters of a three-layer railway track model to achieve favorable properties for the circulation of high-speed trains at very high velocities. The three layers imply that the model should have three critical velocities for resonance. However, in many cases, some of these values are missing and must be replaced by pseudo-critical values. Since no resonance occurs at pseudo-critical velocities, even in the absence of damping, deflections never reach infinity. By using optimization techniques, it is possible to adjust the model’s parameters, so that the increase in vibrations remains minimal and does not pose a real danger. In this way, circulation velocities could be extended beyond the critical value, thereby increasing the network capacity and, consequently, improving the competitiveness of rail transport compared to other modes of transportation, thus contributing to decarbonization. The presented results are preliminary and require further analysis and validation. Several optimization techniques are implemented, leading to the establishment of designs that already have rather high pseudo-critical velocities. Further research will show how these theoretical findings can be utilized in practice. Full article

Grains and their derivatives play a crucial role as staple foods for the global population. Identifying grains in the food chain that are free from mycotoxin contamination is essential. Researchers have explored various traditional detection methods to address this concern. However, as grain consumption becomes increasingly time-sensitive and dynamic, traditional approaches face growing limitations. In recent years, emerging techniques—particularly molecular-based vibrational spectroscopy methods such as visible–near-infrared (Vis–NIR), near-infrared (NIR), Raman, mid-infrared (MIR) spectroscopy, and hyperspectral imaging (HSI)—have been applied to assess fungal contamination in grains and their products. This review summarizes research advances and applications of vibrational spectroscopy in detecting mycotoxins in grains from 2019 to 2025. The fundamentals of their work, information acquisition characteristics and their applicability in food matrices were outlined. The findings indicate that vibrational spectroscopy techniques can serve as valuable tools for identifying fungal contamination risks during the production, transportation, and storage of grains and related products, with each technique suited to specific applications. Given the close link between grain-based foods and humans, future efforts should further enhance the practicality of vibrational spectroscopy by simultaneously optimizing spectral analysis strategies across multiple aspects, including chemometrics, model transfer, and data-driven artificial intelligence. Efficient maintenance is paramount for rail transport systems to avoid catastrophic accidents. Therefore, a method that enables the early detection of defects in critical components is crucial for increasing the availability of rolling stock and reducing maintenance costs. This work’s main contribution is the proposal of a methodology for analyzing vibration signals. The vibration signals, obtained from a bogie axle on a test bench, are decomposed into intrinsic functions, to which classical signal processing techniques are then applied. Finally, decision trees are employed to characterize the axle’s state, yielding excellent results. Full article

Inelastic electron tunneling spectroscopy (IETS) has emerged as a powerful vibrational spectroscopy technique for molecular electronic junctions, providing unique insights into molecular vibrations and electron–phonon coupling at the nanoscale. In this review, we present a comprehensive overview of IETS in molecular junctions, tracing its development from foundational principles to the latest advances. We begin with the theoretical background, detailing the mechanisms by which inelastic tunneling processes generate vibrational fingerprints of molecules, and highlighting how IETS complements optical spectroscopies by accessing electrically driven vibrational excitations. We then discuss recent progress in experimental techniques and device architectures that have broadened the applicability of IETS. Central focus is given to emerging applications of IETS over the last decade: molecular sensing (identification of chemical bonds and conformational changes in junctions), thermoelectric energy conversion (probing vibrational contributions to molecular thermopower), molecular switches and functional devices (monitoring bias-driven molecular state changes via vibrational signatures), spintronic molecular junctions (detecting spin excitations and spin–vibration interplay), and advanced data analysis approaches such as machine learning for interpreting complex tunneling spectra. Finally, we discuss current challenges, including sensitivity at room temperature, spectral interpretation, and integration into practical devices. This review aims to serve as a thorough reference for researchers in physics, chemistry, and materials science, consolidating state-of-the-art understanding of IETS in molecular junctions and its growing role in molecular-scale device characterization. The potential damage to aviation products caused by vibration and shock during road transportation has long been overlooked, despite structural failure under dynamic loading emerging as a critical technical challenge affecting product reliability. For aviation components, both stress and vibration analysis are essential prerequisites prior to formal assembly. This study investigates a symmetric vertical tail, a common aviation structure, employing an innovative model group analysis method to characterize its dynamic stress and strain distributions under real transportation conditions. Experimental measurements of vibration acceleration and impact loads during transport served as input data for constructing a numerical model based on stress and vibration theory. The model elucidates the mechanical responses of the tail in both modal and vibrational states, enabling effectively evaluation of dynamic vibrations on the tail and its critical subcomponents during road transport. The findings provide actionable insights for optimizing aviation component packaging design, mitigating vibration-induced damage, and enhancing transportation safety. Full article

To address the limitations of conventional single-track rail systems in challenging hilly and mountainous terrains, which are ill-suited for transporting heavy agricultural machinery, there is a critical need to develop a specialized the double-track rail transportation system optimized for orchard equipment. Recognizing this requirement, our research team designed and implemented a double-track rail transportation system. In this innovative system, the rail functions as the pivotal component, with its structural properties significantly impacting the machine’s overall stability and operational performance. In this study, resistance strain gauges were employed to analyze the stress–strain distribution of the track under a full load of 750 kg, a critical factor in the system’s design. To further investigate the structural performance of the double-track rail, the impact hammer method was utilized in conjunction with triaxial acceleration sensors to conduct experimental modal analysis (EMA) under actual support conditions. By integrating the Eigensystem Realization Algorithm (ERA), the first 20 natural modes and their corresponding parameters were successfully identified with high precision. A comparative analysis between finite element simulation results and experimental measurements was performed, revealing the double-track rail’s inherent vibration characteristics under constrained modal conditions versus actual boundary constraints. These valuable findings serve as a theoretical foundation for the dynamic optimization of rail structures and the mitigation of resonance issues. The advancement of hilly and mountainous rail transportation systems holds significant promise for enhancing productivity and transportation efficiency in agricultural operations. Full article

Seismic Response Characteristics of High-Speed Railway Hub Station Considering Pile-Soil Interactions

As a key transportation infrastructure, it is of great significance to ensure the seismic safety of the high-speed railway hub station. Taking Changde high-speed railway hub station as background, a comprehensive 3D numerical model of the high-speed railway station structure is proposed to consider the engineering geological characteristics of the site, soil nonlinearity, and pile-soil interactions. The results show that the hub station structural system, considering pile-soil interaction, presents the ‘soft-upper-rigid-down’ characteristics as a whole, and the natural vibration is lower than that of the station structure with a rigid foundation assumption. Under the action of three strong seismic motions, the nonlinear site seismic effect is significant, the surface acceleration is significantly enlarged, and decreases with the buried depth. The interaction between pile and soil is related to the nonlinear seismic effect of the site, which deforms together to resist the foundation deformation caused by the strong earthquake motions, and the depth range affected by the interaction between the two increases with the increase of the intensity of earthquake motion. Among the three kinds of input earthquake motions, the predominant frequency of the Kobe earthquake is the closest to the natural vibration of the station structure system, followed by the El Centro earthquake. Moreover, the structures above the foundation of the high-speed railway hub station structural system are more sensitive to the spectral characteristics of Taft waves and El Centro waves compared to the site soil. This is also the main innovation point of this study. The existence of the roof leads to the gradual amplification of the seismic response of the station frame structure with height, and the seismic response amplification at the connection between the roof and the frame structure is the largest. The maximum story drift angle at the top floor of the station structure is also greater than that at the bottom floor. Full article

To address the issue of poor film–soil separation in traditional subsoil residual film recovery machines, which leads to recovered film containing excessive soil, a film–soil conveying and separation device was designed. By establishing a mechanical model for the balanced conveyance of the film–soil composite, the range of conveyor chain inclination angles enabling stable transport was determined. Using RecurDyn 2023 simulation software, a sensitivity analysis was conducted on the effects of vibrating wheel speed, vibrating wheel mounting distance, and conveyor chain inclination angle on vibration characteristics. This analysis revealed that vibrating wheel speed and mounting distance have a significant impact on the vibrating mechanism. Based on the DEM–MBD (Discrete Element Method—Multi-Body Dynamics) coupling approach, a discrete element simulation model was built for the film–soil vibrating conveyor device, residual film, and soil. Using the primary conveyor chain speed, vibrating wheel speed, and mounting distance as experimental factors, and soil content rate and film leakage rate as experimental indicators, single-factor tests and a three-factor, five-level orthogonal rotational composite design test were performed. The results showed that, at a primary conveyor chain speed of 1.61 m/s, a vibrating wheel speed of 186.2 r/min, and a mounting distance of 688.2 mm, the soil content rate was 18.11% and the film leakage rate was 7.61%. The film–soil conveying and separation process was also analyzed via simulation. Field validation tests using the optimal parameter combination yielded relative errors of 3.43% and 5.51%, respectively, demonstrating effective film–soil separation. This research provides a theoretical foundation and equipment support for addressing residual film pollution in the cultivated layer of Xinjiang region. Full article

This study investigates the isolated effect of IIP asymmetry on thermalization. Asymmetry and nonlinearity are typically intertwined. To isolate the effect of asymmetry, we introduce a one-dimensional asymmetric harmonic (AH) model whose IIP possesses asymmetry but no nonlinearity, evidenced by energy-independent vibrational frequencies. Extensive numerical simulations confirm a power-law relationship between thermalization time (Teq) and perturbation strength for the AH chain, revealing an exponent larger than the previously observed inverse-square law in the thermodynamic limit. Upon adding symmetric quartic nonlinearity into the AH model, we systematically study thermalization under combined asymmetry and nonlinearity. Matthiessen’s rule provides a good estimate of Teq in this case. Our results demonstrate that asymmetry plays a distinct role in enhancing higher-order effects and governing relaxation dynamics. The dynamic control of vibrations in skyscrapers is a critical consideration in sustainable building design, particularly in response to environmental excitations such as wind impact or seismic activity. Effective vibration neutralisation plays a crucial role in providing the safety of high-rise buildings. This research introduces an innovative concept for an active vibration damper that operates based on fluid dynamic transport to adaptively alter a skyscraper’s natural frequency, thereby counteracting resonant vibrations. A distinctive feature of this system is an adjustable-length cable mechanism, allowing for the dynamic modification of the pendulum’s effective length in real time. The structure, based on cable length adjustment, enables the PTMD to precisely tune its natural frequency to variable excitation conditions, thereby improving damping during transient or resonance phenomena of the building’s dynamic behaviour. A comprehensive mathematical model based on Lagrangian mechanics outlines the governing equations for this system, capturing the interactions between pendulum motion, fluid flow, and the damping forces necessary to maintain stability. Simulation analyses examine the role of initial excitation frequency and variable damping coefficients, revealing critical insights into optimal damper performance under varied structural conditions. The findings indicate that the proposed pendulum damper effectively mitigates resonance risks, paving the way for sustainable skyscraper design through enhanced structural adaptability and resilience. This adaptive PTMD, featuring an adjustable-length cable, provides a solution for creating safe and energy-efficient skyscraper designs, aligning with sustainable architectural practices and advancing future trends in vibration management technology. The study presented in this article supports the development of modern skyscraper design, with a focus on dynamic vibration control for sustainability and structural safety. It combines advanced numerical modelling, data-driven control algorithms, and experimental validation. From a sustainability perspective, the proposed PTMD system reduces the need for oversized structural components by providing adaptive, efficient damping, thereby lowering material consumption and embedded carbon. Through dynamically retuning structural stiffness and mass, the proposed PTMD enhances resilience and energy efficiency in skyscrapers, lowers lifetime energy use associated with passive damping devices, and enhances occupant comfort. This aligns with global sustainability objectives and new-generation building standards. Full article
