Background/Objectives: This study investigated the association between cochlear implant (CI) users’ assessed perception of musical sound quality and their subjective music perception and music-related quality of life (QoL). The aim was to provide a comprehensive evaluation by integrating a relatively objective Turkish Multiple Stimulus with Hidden Reference and Anchor (TR-MUSHRA) test and a subjective music questionnaire. Methods: Thirty CI users and thirty normal-hearing (NH) adults were assessed. Perception of sound quality was measured using the TR-MUSHRA test. Subjective assessments were conducted with the Music-Related Quality of Life Questionnaire (MuRQoL). Results: TR-MUSHRA results showed that while NH participants rated all filtered stimuli as perceptually different from the original, CI users provided similar ratings for stimuli with adjacent high-pass filter settings, indicating less differentiation in perceived sound quality. On the MuRQoL, groups differed on the Frequency subscale but not the Importance subscale. Critically, no significant correlation was found between the TR-MUSHRA scores and the MuRQoL subscale scores in either group. Conclusions: The findings demonstrate that TR-MUSHRA is an effective tool for assessing perceived sound quality relatively objectively, but there is no relationship between perceiving sound quality differences and measures of self-reported musical engagement and its importance. Subjective music experience may represent different domains beyond the perception of sound quality. Therefore, successful auditory rehabilitation requires personalized strategies that consider the multifaceted nature of music perception beyond simple perceptual judgments. Full article

Efficient and accurate panel assignment is critical in expert and peer review processes. Traditional methods—based on manual preferences or Heuristic rules—often introduce bias, inconsistency, and scalability challenges. We present an automated framework that combines transformer-based document similarity modeling with optimization-based reviewer assignment. Using the all-mpnet-base-v2 from model (version 3.4.1), our system computes semantic similarity between proposal texts and reviewer documents, including CVs and Google Scholar profiles, without requiring manual input from reviewers. These similarity scores are then converted into rankings and integrated into an Integer Linear Programming (ILP) formulation that accounts for workload balance, conflicts of interest, and role-specific reviewer assignments (lead, scribe, reviewer). The method was tested across 40 researchers in two distinct disciplines (Chemical Engineering and Philosophy), each with 10 proposal documents. Results showed high self-similarity scores (0.65–0.89), strong differentiation between unrelated fields (−0.21 to 0.08), and comparable performance between reviewer document types. The optimization consistently prioritized top matches while maintaining feasibility under assignment constraints. By eliminating the need for subjective preferences and leveraging deep semantic analysis, our framework offers a scalable, fair, and efficient alternative to manual or Heuristic assignment processes. This approach can support large-scale review workflows while enhancing transparency and alignment with reviewer expertise. Full article

Clinical and Cognitive Improvement Following Treatment with a Hemp-Derived, Full-Spectrum, High-Cannabidiol Product in Patients with Anxiety: An Open-Label Pilot Study

Background/Objectives: Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid touted for a variety of medical benefits, including alleviation of anxiety. While legalization of hemp-derived products in the United States (containing ≤0.3% delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol [d9-THC] by weight) has led to a rapid increase in the commercialization of hemp-derived CBD products, most therapeutic claims have not been substantiated using clinical trials. This trial aimed to assess the impact of 6 weeks of treatment with a proprietary hemp-derived, full-spectrum, high-CBD sublingual solution similar to those available in the marketplace in patients with anxiety. Methods: An open-label pilot clinical trial (NCT04286594) was conducted in 12 patients with at least moderate levels of anxiety. Patients self-administered a hemp-derived, high-CBD sublingual solution twice daily during the 6-week trial (target daily dose: 30 mg/day CBD). Clinical change over time relative to baseline was assessed for anxiety, mood, sleep, and quality of life, as well as changes in cognitive performance on measures of executive function and memory. Safety and tolerability of the study product were also evaluated. Results: Patients reported significant reductions in anxiety symptoms over time. Concurrent improvements in mood, sleep, and relevant quality of life domains were also observed, along with stable or improved performance on all neurocognitive measures. Few side effects were reported, and no serious adverse events occurred. Conclusions: These pilot findings provide initial support for the efficacy and tolerability of the hemp-derived, high-CBD product in patients with moderate-to-severe levels of anxiety. Double-blind, placebo-controlled studies are indicated to obtain robust data regarding efficacy and tolerability of these types of products for anxiety. Full article

Impact of Pre- and Post-Dilatation on Long-Term Outcomes After Self-Expanding and Balloon-Expandable TAVI

The main objective of this study was to compare the long-term outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in patients with severe aortic stenosis, focusing on differences between self-expanding valve (SEV) versus balloon-expandable valve (BEV) prostheses and the influence of balloon pre- and post-dilatation on clinical results. The secondary objective was to report the long-term outcomes after TAVI in Romania. All patients who underwent a TAVI procedure for severe AS between November 2016 and May 2025 at a tertiary center in Romania were included in the present study. A total of 702 patients were included, of which 455 (64.8%) and 247 (35.1%) patients received a BEV (Sapien3 platform) and a SEV (Accurate, Boston, Portico, Evolut, or Navitor platforms), respectively. Pre-dilatation was performed in 514 (73.2%) cases, and post-dilatation was performed in 189 (26.9%) cases. There were 10.5 and 7.8 all-cause and cardiovascular-cause mortality event rates per 100 patient years, respectively. In regard to the univariable Cox regression, a BEV has significantly lower mortality than an SEV (HR = 0.67[0.46–0.96], p = 0.03), pre-dilatation did not influence mortality (HR = 0.71[0.48–1.04], p = 0.08), and post-dilatation significantly increased mortality (HR = 1.51[1.05–2.19], p = 0.03). In regard to the multivariable Cox regression, survival was not influenced by pre-dilatation or the valve platform, while post-dilatation had a trend towards higher mortality (p = 0.06). The BEV and SEV have similar survival rates, with no heterogeneity among a large number of TAVI platforms. While pre-dilatation had no impact on mortality, post-dilatation was associated with a trend towards increased mortality (p = 0.06), which was independent of the transprosthetic gradient. Survival after TAVI in Romania is comparable to that reported in Western registries. Full article

Background/Objectives: Perceived physical literacy (PPL) appears to be a relevant strategy for combating the prevalent sedentary lifestyle among young people. Therefore, understanding their PPL levels will facilitate the implementation of appropriate strategies for this purpose. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the differences in PPL considering the sex dimension (i.e., males and females) and the age-group (i.e., early compulsory secondary education, late compulsory secondary education and baccalaureate). Methods: Seven-hundred-and-four Spanish students (age = 14.3 ± 1.6 years old) belonging to three different Spanish secondary schools voluntarily participated in this study. To assess adolescents’ perceptions of their physical literacy, the Spanish Adolescents’ Perceived Physical Literacy Assessment (S-PPLI) was used. This instrument consists of nine items equally distributed across three categories: self-perception and self-confidence, self-expression and communication with others, and knowledge and understanding. Results: Males obtained higher scores in all the indicators of PPL, except for items 1, 8 and 9, compared to their female counterparts (p < 0.05), while the oldest age-group reported higher scores in the indicators of knowledge and understanding category compared to students in the early years of compulsory secondary education (p < 0.01). Conclusions: Programs based on increasing the PPL should be implemented specifically for females. Also, similar programs must be included into scholar curriculums from the beginning of secondary education, with the aim of promoting improvements in the health and physical condition of Spanish adolescents. From The Demon to the Secret Voice: Archetypal Echoes and Oral Culture in 19th Century Romantic Poetry

The first half of the 19th century witnessed the rise of Romantic poetry, which focused in depth on individual consciousness, inner worlds, and metaphysical inquiries. This poetic orientation became particularly evident in works centred on themes such as solitude, alienation, and existential quests. Within this context, the present study aims to examine the archetypal and poetic resonances of the poetic voice in Mihail Lermontov’s poem The Demon, based on its sixth and final version dated 1841, in relation to Nikoloz Baratashvili’s poem Secret Voice. Lermontov’s poem is analyzed through the English translation by Charles Johnston, published in 1983, while Baratashvili’s poem is discussed based on the 24-line version included in the fifth edition (1895) of the anthology Poems and Letters (Leksebi da Tserilebi). This study explores the thematic and structural similarities between the two poems within the framework of comparative literature and psychoanalytic criticism, focusing on Romantic archetypes, the uncanny, the shadow figure, and ontological solitude. Furthermore, the dialogue established between Lermontov’s demonic narrator and Baratashvili’s introspective poetic voice reopens discussions on the boundaries of cultural memory, oral narrative patterns, and poetic identity. Ultimately, this comparative analysis reveals the implicit influences of The Demon on Georgian poetry and discusses the intercultural resonances of themes such as voice, self, and archetype in Romantic poetry. Optical solitons have emerged as a highly active research domain in nonlinear fiber optics, driving significant advancements and enabling a wide range of practical applications. This study investigates the dynamics of dark solitons in systems governed by the resonant nonlinear Schrödinger equation (RNLSE). For the RNLSE with third-order (3OD) and fourth-order (4OD) dispersions, the dark soliton solution of the equation in the (1+1)-dimensional case is derived using the F-expansion method, and the analytical study is extended to the (2+1)-dimensional case via the self-similar method. Subsequently, the nonlinear equation incorporating perturbation terms is further studied, with particular attention given to the dark soliton solutions in both one and two dimensions. The soliton dynamics are illustrated through graphical representations to elucidate their propagation characteristics. Finally, modulation instability analysis is conducted to evaluate the stability of the nonlinear system. These theoretical findings provide a solid foundation for experimental investigations of dark solitons within the systems governed by the RNLSE model. Full article

A Highly Robust Terrain-Aided Navigation Framework Based on an Improved Marine Predators Algorithm and Depth-First Search

Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) have obtained extensive application in the exploitation of marine resources. Terrain-aided navigation (TAN), as an accurate and reliable autonomous navigation method, is commonly used for AUV navigation. However, its accuracy degrades significantly in self-similar terrain features or measurement uncertainties. To overcome these challenges, we propose a novel terrain-aided navigation framework integrating an Improved Marine Predators Algorithm with Depth-First Search optimization (DFS-IMPA-TAN). This framework maintains positioning precision in partially self-similar terrains through two synergistic mechanisms: (1) IMPA-driven optimization based on the hunger-inspired adaptive exploitation to determine optimal trajectory transformations, cascaded with Kalman filtering for navigation state correction; (2) a Robust Tree (RT) hypothesis manager that maintains potential trajectory candidates in graph-structured memory, employing Depth-First Search for ambiguity resolution in feature matching. Experimental validation through simulations and in-vehicle testing demonstrates the framework’s distinctive advantages: (1) consistent terrain association in partially self-similar topographies; (2) inherent error resilience against ambiguous feature measurements; and (3) long-term navigation stability. In all experimental groups, the root mean squared error of the framework remained around 60 m. Under adverse conditions, its navigation accuracy improved by over 30% compared to other traditional batch processing TAN methods. Comparative analysis confirms superior performance over conventional methods under challenging conditions, establishing DFS-IMPA-TAN as a robust navigation solution for AUVs in complex underwater environments. Vehicle re-identification (Re-ID) is a critical computer vision task that aims to match the same vehicle across spatially distributed cameras, especially in the context of remote sensing imagery. While prior research has primarily focused on Re-ID using remote sensing images captured from similar, typically elevated viewpoints, these settings do not fully reflect complex aerial-ground collaborative remote sensing scenarios. In this work, we introduce a novel and challenging task: aerial-ground cross-view vehicle Re-ID, which involves retrieving vehicles in ground-view image galleries using query images captured from aerial (top-down) perspectives. This task is increasingly relevant due to the integration of drone-based surveillance and ground-level monitoring in multi-source remote sensing systems, yet it poses substantial challenges due to significant appearance variations between aerial and ground views. To support this task, we present AGID (Aerial-Ground Vehicle Re-Identification), the first benchmark dataset specifically designed for aerial-ground cross-view vehicle Re-ID. AGID comprises 20,785 remote sensing images of 834 vehicle identities, collected using drones and fixed ground cameras. We further propose a novel method, Enhanced Self-Correlation Feature Computation (ESFC), which enhances spatial relationships between semantically similar regions and incorporates shape information to improve feature discrimination. Extensive experiments on the AGID dataset and three widely used vehicle Re-ID benchmarks validate the effectiveness of our method, which achieves a Rank-1 accuracy of 69.0% on AGID, surpassing state-of-the-art approaches by 2.1%. Three-dimensional printing is commonly used to fabricate provisional dental restorations. Studies have reported that changes in printing orientation affect the physical and mechanical properties of 3D-printed polymeric provisional restorations; however the findings have been inconsistent. Therefore, this systematic review and meta-analysis aims to analyze the articles evaluating the influence of printing orientation on the physical and mechanical properties of 3D-printed polymeric provisional dental restorations. Recommendations provided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines were followed to structure and compose the review. The PICO (Participant, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome) question ordered was: ‘Do 3D-printed provisional dental restorations (P) printed at various orientations (except 0°) (I) exhibit similar physical and mechanical properties (O) when compared to those printed at a 0° orientation (C)?’. An electronic search was conducted on 28 and 29 April 2025, by two independent researchers across four databases (MEDLINE/PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane Library, and Web of Science) to systematically collect relevant articles published up to March 2025. After removing duplicate articles and applying predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria, twenty-one articles were incorporated into this review. Self-designed Performa’s were used to tabulate all relevant information. For the quality analysis, the modified CONSORT scale was utilized. The quantitative analysis was performed on only fifteen out of twenty-one articles. It can be concluded that the printing orientation affects some of the tested properties, which include fracture strength (significantly higher for specimens printed at 0° when compared to 90°), wear resistance (significantly higher for specimens printed at 90° when compared to 0°), microhardness (significantly higher for specimens printed at 90°and 45° when compared to 0°), color stability (high at 0°), and surface roughness (significantly higher for specimens printed at 45° and 90° when compared to 0°). There were varied outcomes in terms of flexural strength and elastic modulus. Full article

Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) encompass a heterogeneous group of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions affecting the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and masticatory system. Due to academic stress and parafunctional habits, dental students may be particularly vulnerable to TMD. Objective: To determine the prevalence of TMD symptoms and their psychosocial and functional correlates among students at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, UMPh Iasi, Romania, using the diagnostic criteria for TMD (DC/TMD) self-report axis and axis II instruments. Methods: In this cross-sectional survey, 356 volunteer students (66.0% female; mean age, 22.9 ± 3.6 years) out of a total population of 1874 completed an online DC/TMD–based questionnaire. Axis I assessed orofacial pain, joint noises, and mandibular locking. Axis II instruments included the Graded Chronic Pain Scale (GCPS), Jaw Functional Limitation Scale (JFLS-20), Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7), and Oral Behaviors Checklist (OBC). Descriptive statistics summarized frequencies, means, and standard deviations; χ2 tests and t-tests compared subgroups by sex; Pearson correlations explored relationships among continuous measures (α = 0.05). Results: A total of 5% of respondents reported orofacial pain in the past 30 days; 41.6% observed TMJ noises; 19.7% experienced locking episodes. Mean JFLS score was 28.3 ± 30.5, with 4.8% scoring > 80 (severe limitation). Mean PHQ-9 was 5.96 ± 5.37 (mild depression); 15.5% scored ≥ 10. Mean GAD-7 was 5.20 ± 4.95 (mild anxiety); 16.0% scored ≥ 10. Mean OBC score was 12.3 ± 8.5; 30.1% scored ≥ 16, indicating frequent parafunctional habits. Symptom prevalence was similar by sex, except temporal headache (43.4% females vs. 24.3% males; p = 0.0008). Females reported higher mean scores for pain intensity (2.09 vs. 1.55; p = 0.0013), JFLS (32.5 vs. 18.0; p < 0.001), PHQ-9 (6.43 vs. 5.16; p = 0.048), and OBC (13.9 vs. 9.7; p = 0.0014). Strong correlation was observed between PHQ-9 and GAD-7 (r = 0.74; p < 0.001); moderate correlations were observed between pain intensity and PHQ-9 (r = 0.31) or GAD-7 (r = 0.30), between JFLS and pain intensity (r = 0.33), and between OBC and PHQ-9 (r = 0.39) (all p < 0.001). Conclusions: Nearly half of dental students reported TMD symptoms, with appreciable functional limitation and psychosocial impact. Parafunctional behaviors and psychological distress were significantly associated with pain and dysfunction. These findings underscore the need for early screening, stress-management interventions, and interdisciplinary care strategies in the dental student population. Full article

Background/Objectives: Internalizing disorders are highly prevalent during adolescence. Previous research has shown that psychological inflexibility (PI) in both adolescents and their parents contributes to internalizing problems. However, how parental and adolescent PI relate to one another in explaining these difficulties remains unclear. The present exploratory study examined whether adolescent PI mediates the relationship between maternal PI and internalizing problems in adolescents. Methods: The study sample included 81 mother–adolescent dyads (80% female adolescents). Mothers completed a general self-report measure of PI, while adolescents completed self-report measures assessing both PI and internalizing problems. Results: The results showed that adolescent PI partially mediated the relationship between maternal PI and internalizing difficulties in female adolescents, whereas the mediation model was not significant for male adolescents. Conclusions: Findings suggest that mothers with high levels of psychological inflexibility may foster similar patterns in their children, particularly in daughters, thereby increasing adolescents’ vulnerability to increased psychological distress. Background/Objectives: Pharmacists are highly accessible healthcare providers who have frequent, repeated contact with diverse patient populations. They are poised to offer expanded and comprehensive healthcare, including mental health services. One potential barrier to this is a lack of knowledge, confidence, or training in mental health, which may be overcome with a program like Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to fill this gap in knowledge by critically evaluating all studies of MHFA training for pharmacists or pharmacy students that report on knowledge, attitudes, or self-efficacy outcomes. Methods: A systematic review was performed to identify all relevant studies. Data was extracted and a random-effects meta-analysis was performed for knowledge and attitudes/self-efficacy outcomes, respectively. Subgroup analyses were performed based on survey question type, geographic location, and population studied. Results: Overall, MHFA training significantly increased pharmacists’ and pharmacy students’ knowledge (Hedges’ g = 0.228) and combined attitudinal/self-efficacy measures (Hedges’ g = 0.376). Subgroup analyses based on question type, study quality, design, population studied, and location showed similar, significant effects. Conclusions: MHFA training appears to have significant effects on pharmacist and pharmacy student knowledge, attitudes, and self-efficacy. Future work should establish the durability of these effects. Full article

This study explores the potential of craft-based activities in the context of special education, focusing on a papier mâché sculpting workshop implemented at the Special Kindergarten of Komotini, Greece, as part of the Horizon Europe Craeft project. The initiative aimed to assess how such creative activities could enhance the learning experience of children with intellectual and motor impairments, foster socialization, and develop fine motor skills. With reference to literature in art therapy, craft education, and inclusive pedagogy, the study applied a mixed-methods approach combining observation, visual analysis, and a survey. The findings indicate that, despite varied levels of participation based on individual needs, all students engaged meaningfully with the materials and activities. School professionals observed increased student engagement, emotional comfort, and communication, while also identifying the activity as well adapted and replicable in similar contexts. The results highlight the value of crafts in special education, not only as a sensory and cognitive stimulus but also as a means of fostering inclusion and self-expression. The study concludes with a call for further research into the role of tactile materials and hand gestures in relation to specific impairments. Full article

Natural History of Hyperphagia in Patients with Pseudohypoparathyroidism

Background/Objectives: Pseudohypoparathyroidism (PHP) is a group of genetic disorders characterized by end-organ resistance to multiple hormones, short stature, brachydactyly, subcutaneous ossifications, obesity, and developmental delays. The tissue specific imprinting of GNAS in the hypothalamus may lead to different eating behavior phenotypes in maternally inherited (PHP1A, PHP1B) vs. paternally inherited (PPHP) variants. In this exploratory study, we aimed to evaluate differences in eating behaviors in a cohort of patients with PHP1A, PPHP and PHP1B. Methods: Assessments included caregiver-reported measures (hyperphagia questionnaire, children’s eating behavior questionnaire, child feeding questionnaire) and self-reported measures (three factor eating behavior questionnaire). Results: A total of 58 patients with PHP1A, 13 patients with PPHP and 10 patients with PHP1B contributed data, along with 124 obese pediatric controls. An increased risk of obesity was found in PHP1A vs. PPHP (adult body mass index (BMI) 39.8 ± 8.7 vs. 30.2 ± 7.4 kg/m2, p = 0.03). Parents reported significantly earlier onset of interest in food in children with PHP1A (2.0 ± 2.3 years) and PHP1B (1.1 ± 1.3 years) compared with controls (5.2 ± 3.2 years, p < 0.001). Measures of hyperphagia, satiety and other feeding behaviors were all similar to controls. The highest hyperphagia questionnaire scores were seen prior to adolescence. In a multi-year, longitudinal assessment of 11 pediatric patients with PHP1A, hyperphagia scores were stable and 25% showed an improvement in symptoms. Conclusion: Patients with PHP1A/1B may have hyperphagia symptoms from a young age but they do not worsen over time. Patients may overeat when allowed access to food, but do not usually have disruptive food seeking behaviors. Early diagnosis can give clinicians the opportunity to provide anticipatory diagnosis on the increased risk of obesity in PHP1A/1B and need for scheduled meals and controlled portions. Further studies with larger cohorts are needed to confirm these findings. Full article
