The aim of this study was to determine the connection between oscillations in operating pressure values and the appearance of various irregularities on machined surfaces. Such oscillations are a consequence of the high water pressure generated during abrasive water jet machining. Oscillations in the operating pressure values are periodic, namely due to the cyclic operation of the intensifier and the physical characteristics of water. One of the most common means of reducing this phenomenon is installing an attenuator in the hydraulic system or a phased intensifier system. The main hypothesis of this study was that the topography of a machined surface is directly influenced by the inability of the pressure accumulator to fully absorb water pressure oscillations. In this study, we monitored changes in hydraulic oil pressure values at the intensifier entrance and their connection with irregularities on the machined surface—such as waviness—when cutting aluminum AlMg3 of different thicknesses. Experimental research was conducted in order to establish this connection. Aluminum AlMg3 of different thicknesses—from 6 mm to 12 mm—was cut with different traverse speeds while hydraulic oil pressure values were monitored. The pressure signals thus obtained were analyzed by applying the fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm. We identified a single-sided pressure signal amplitude spectrum. The frequency axis can be transformed by multiplying inverse frequency data with traverse speed; in this way, a single-sided amplitude spectrum can be obtained, examined against the period in which striations are expected to appear (in millimeters). In the lower zone of the analyzed samples, striations are observed at intervals determined by the dominant hydraulic oil pressure harmonics, which are transferred to the operating pressure. In other words, we demonstrate how the machined surface topography is directly induced by water jet pressure frequency characteristics. Full article

The dynamics of the vibrational mode of motion of the driving member of a nonideal system, a mixing–whipping device based on a simple slide-crank mechanism, was studied. The highly nonlinear differential equations of motion were solved numerically by the Runge–Kutta method. The interaction of the mixing–whipping device with the nonideal excitation source causes the rotational speed of the engine shaft and the rotation angle of the driving member to fluctuate, accomplishing a damped process. The parameters of the device and the nonideal energy source have an effect on the kinematic, vibrational and energy characteristics of the system. An increase in the engine’s torque, crank length, number and radius of piston holes, and piston mass, as well as a decrease in the fluid’s density, leads to a reduction in the oscillation range of the crank angle, amplitude and period of angular velocity oscillations of the engine shaft and the mixing–whipping force power. The effects of a nonideal energy source may be used in designing a mixing–whipping device based on a slider-crank mechanism to select effective system parameters and an energy-saving motor in accordance with the requirements of technological processes and products. With their superior switching speed, GaN high-electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs) enable high power density, reduce energy losses, and increase power efficiency in a wide range of applications, such as power electronics, due to their high breakdown voltage. GaN-HEMT devices are subject to long-term reliability due to the self-heating effect and lattice mismatch between the SiC substrate and the GaN. Depletion-mode GaN HEMTs are utilized for radio frequency applications, and this work investigates three wide-bandgap (WBG) GaN HEMT fixed-frequency oscillators with output buffers. The first GaN-on-SiC HEMT oscillator consists of an HEMT amplifier with an LC feedback network. With the supply voltage of 0.8 V, the single-ended GaN oscillator can generate a signal at 8.85 GHz, and it also supplies output power of 2.4 dBm with a buffer supply of 3.0 V. At 1 MHz frequency offset from the carrier, the phase noise is −124.8 dBc/Hz, and the figure of merit (FOM) of the oscillator is −199.8 dBc/Hz. After the previous study, the hot-carrier stressed RF performance of the GaN oscillator is studied, and the oscillator was subject to a drain supply of 8 V for a stressing step time equal to 30 min and measured at the supply voltage of 0.8 V after the step operation for performance benchmark. Stress study indicates the power oscillator with buffer is a good structure for a reliable structure by operating the oscillator core at low supply and the buffer at high supply. The second balanced oscillator can generate a differential signal. The feedback filter consists of a left-handed transmission-line LC network by cascading three unit cells. At a 1 MHz frequency offset from the carrier of 3.818 GHz, the phase noise is −131.73 dBc/Hz, and the FOM of the 2nd oscillator is −188.4 dBc/Hz. High supply voltage operation shows phase noise degradation. The third GaN cross-coupled VCO uses 8-shaped inductors. The VCO uses a pair of drain inductors to improve the Q-factor of the LC tank, and it uses 8-shaped inductors for magnetic coupling noise suppression. At the VCO-core supply of 1.3 V and high buffer supply, the FOM at 6.397 GHz is −190.09 dBc/Hz. This work enhances the design techniques for reliable GaN HEMT oscillators and knowledge to design high-performance circuits. Full article

In response to the issues of severe pitch oscillation and unstable roll attitude present in existing reinforcement learning-based aircraft cruise control methods during dynamic maneuvers, this paper proposes a precise control method for aircraft cruising based on proximal policy optimization (PPO) with nonlinear attitude constraints. This method first introduces a combination of long short-term memory (LSTM) and a fully connected layer (FC) to form the policy network of the PPO method, improving the algorithm’s learning efficiency for sequential data while avoiding feature compression. Secondly, it transforms cruise control into tracking target heading, altitude, and speed, achieving a mapping from motion states to optimal control actions within the policy network, and designs nonlinear constraints as the maximum reward intervals for pitch and roll to mitigate abnormal attitudes during maneuvers. Finally, a JSBSim simulation platform is established to train the network parameters, obtaining the optimal strategy for cruise control and achieving precise end-to-end control of the aircraft. Experimental results show that, compared to the cruise control method without dynamic constraints, the improved method reduces heading deviation by approximately 1.6° during ascent and 4.4° during descent, provides smoother pitch control, decreases steady-state altitude error by more than 1.5 m, and achieves higher accuracy in overlapping with the target trajectory during hexagonal trajectory tracking. After primary frequency regulation in large-scale wind farms is completed, the power dip phenomenon occurs during the rotor speed recovery phase. This phenomenon may induce a secondary frequency drop in power systems, which poses challenges to system frequency security. To address this issue, this paper proposes a frequency security-oriented optimal dispatch model for multi-regional power systems, taking into account the risks of secondary frequency drop. In the first stage, risk-averse day-ahead scheduling is conducted. It co-optimizes operational costs and risks under wind power uncertainty through stochastic programming. In the second stage, frequency security verification is carried out. The proposed dispatch scheme is validated against multi-regional frequency dynamic constraints under extreme wind scenarios. These two stages work in tandem to comprehensively address the frequency security issues related to wind power integration. The model innovatively decomposes system reserve power into three distinct components: wind fluctuation reserve, power dip reserve, and contingency reserve. This decomposition enables coordinated optimization between absorbing power oscillations during wind turbine speed recovery and satisfies multi-regional grid frequency security constraints. The column and constraint generation algorithm is employed to solve this two-stage optimization problem. Case studies demonstrate that the proposed model effectively mitigates frequency security risks caused by wind turbines’ operational state transitions after primary frequency regulation, while maintaining economic efficiency. The methodology provides theoretical support for the secure integration of high-penetration renewable energy in modern multi-regional power systems. Full article

During the process of flexible aerial refueling, the flexible structure of the hose drogue assembly is affected by internal and external interference, such as docking maneuvering, deformation of the hose, attitude changes, and body vibrations, causing the hose to swing and the whipping phenomenon, which greatly limits the success rate and safety of aerial refueling operations. Based on a 2.4 m transonic wind tunnel, high-speed wind tunnel test technology of a flexible aerial refueling hose–drogue system was established to carry out experimental research on the coupling characteristics of aerodynamics and multi-body dynamics. Based on the aid of Videogrammetry Model Deformation (VMD), high-speed photography, dynamic balance, and other wind tunnel test technologies, the dynamic characteristics of the hose–drogue system in a high-speed airflow and during the approach of the receiver are obtained. Adopting flexible multi-body dynamics, a dynamic system of the tanker, hose, drogue, and receiver is modeled. The cable/beam model is based on an arbitrary Lagrange–Euler method, and the absolute node coordinate method is used to describe the deformation, movement, and length variation in the hose during both winding and unwinding. The aerodynamic forces of the tanker, receiver, hose, and drogue are modeled, reflecting the coupling influence of movement of the tanker and receiver, the deformation of the hose and drogue, and the aerodynamic forces on each other. The tests show that during the approach of the receiver (distance from 1000 mm to 20 mm), the sinking amount of the drogue increases by 31 mm; due to the offset of the receiver probe, the drogue moves sideways from the symmetric plane of the receiver. Meanwhile, the oscillation magnitude of the drogue increases (from 33 to 48 and from 48 to 80 in spanwise and longitudinal directions, respectively). The simulation results show that the shear force induced by the oscillation of the hose and the propagation velocity of both the longitudinal and shear waves are affected by the hose stiffness and Mach number. The results presented in this work can be of great reference to further increase the safety of aerial refueling. Full article

This study develops a dynamic IS-LM macroeconomic model that incorporates delayed taxation and a memory-dependent income effect, and calibrates it to quarterly data for Romania (2000–2023). Within this framework, fiscal policy lags are modelled using a “memory” income variable that weights past incomes, an approach grounded in distributed lag theory to capture how historical economic conditions influence current dynamics. The model is analysed both analytically and through numerical simulations. We derive stability conditions and employ bifurcation analysis to explore how the timing of taxation influences macroeconomic equilibrium. The findings reveal that an immediate taxation regime yields a stable adjustment toward a unique equilibrium, consistent with classical IS-LM expectations. In contrast, delayed taxation, where tax revenue depends on past income, can destabilise the system, giving rise to cycles and even chaotic fluctuations for parameter values that would be stable under immediate collection. In particular, delays act as a destabilising force, lowering the threshold of the output-adjustment speed at which oscillations emerge. These results highlight the critical importance of policy timing: prompt fiscal feedback tends to stabilise the economy, whereas lags in fiscal intervention can induce endogenous cycles. The analysis offers policy-relevant insights, suggesting that reducing fiscal response delays or counteracting them with other stabilisation tools is crucial for macroeconomic stability. Full article

This study investigates the hydrodynamic performance of ships entering a ship lift compartment that is under the influence of upstream channel geometry and proposes a mechanical traction scheme to enhance operational safety and efficiency. Utilizing a Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS)-based computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach with overlapping grid technology, numerical simulations were conducted for both single and grouped ships navigating through varying water depths, speeds, and shore distances. The results revealed significant transverse force oscillations near the floating navigation wall due to unilateral shore effects, posing risks of deviation. The cargo ship experienced drastic resistance fluctuations in shallow-to-very-shallow-water transitions, while tugboats were notably affected by hydrodynamic interactions during group entry. A mechanical traction system with a four-link robotic arm was designed and analyzed kinematically and statically, demonstrating structural feasibility under converted real-ship traction forces (55.1 kN). The key findings emphasize the need for collision avoidance measures in wall sections and validate the proposed traction scheme for safe and efficient ship entry/exit. This research provides critical insights for optimizing ship lift operations in restricted waters. Full article

This research developed a complex physical and mathematical model of the flat rolling theory problem. This model takes into account the influence of many parameters affecting the roll’s gripping capacity and the overall stability of the entire rolling process. It is important to emphasize that the method of the argument of functions of a complex variable does not rely on simplifying assumptions commonly associated with: the linearized theory of plasticity; or the decoupled solution of stress and strain fields. Furthermore, it does not utilize the rigid-plastic material model. Within this method, solutions are developed based on the complete formulation of the system of equations in terms of stresses and strains, incorporating constitutive relations, thermal effects, and boundary conditions that define a well-posed problem in the theory of plasticity. The presented applied problem is closed in nature, yet it accounts for the effects of mechanical loading and satisfies the system of equation. For this purpose, such factors as roll geometry, physical and mechanical properties of the rolled metal (including its fluidity, hardness, plasticity, and structure heterogeneity), rolling speed, metal temperature, roll lubrication, and many other parameters that can influence the process have been taken into account. Based on the developed mathematical model, a new, previously undescribed force factor significantly affecting the capture of metal by rolls and the stability of the rolling process was identified and investigated in detail. This factor is associated with force stretching of metal in the lagging zone—the area behind the rolls, where the metal has already left the deformation zone, but continues to experience residual stress. It was shown that this stretching, depending on the process parameters, can both contribute to the rolling stability and, on the contrary, destabilize it, causing oscillations and non-uniformity of deformation. The qualitative indicators of transient regime stability have been determined for various values of the parameter α. Specifically, for α = 0.077, the ratio f/α ranges from 1.10 to 1.95; for α = 0.129, the ratio f/α ranges from 1.19 to 1.95; and for α = 0.168, the ratio f/α ranges from 1.28 to 1.95. Full article

Aiming at the problem that the whole row of reciprocating seedling picking mechanism is prone to inertial impacts during operation due to its excessive mass, causing seedling damage and positioning errors, this study builds a motion control system with a PLC controller as the core and proposes a composite motion control strategy based on planned S-curve acceleration and deceleration and fuzzy PID to achieve rapid response, precise positioning, and smooth operation of the seedling picking mechanism. By establishing the objective function and constraint conditions and taking into account the dynamic change of the seedling picking displacement, the S-curve acceleration and deceleration control algorithm is planned in six and seven stages to meet the requirements of a smooth transition of the speed and continuous change of the acceleration curve of the seedling picking mechanism during movement. A fuzzy PID positioning control system is designed, the control system transfer function is constructed, and fuzzy rules are formulated to dynamically compensate for the error and its rate of change to meet the requirements of fast response and no overshoot oscillation of the positioning control system. The speed and acceleration of the seedling picking mechanism under the six-segment and seven-segment S-curve acceleration and deceleration motion control conditions were simulated using MATLAB2024a simulation software and compared with the trapezoidal acceleration and deceleration motion control. The planned S-curve acceleration and deceleration control algorithm has a more stable control effect on the seedling picking mechanism when it operates under the conditions of the dynamic change of the displacement, and it meets the design requirements of seedling picking efficiency. The positioning control system was modeled and simulated using the Simulink simulation platform. When KP = 15, KI = 3, and KD = 1, the whole-row seedling picking control system ran stably, responded quickly, and had no overshoot. Compared with the PID control system with fixed parameters, the fuzzy PID control system reduced the time consumption in the rising stage by 24.5% and shortened the overall stabilization process by 17.6%. The zero overshoot characteristic was ensured, and the response speed was faster. When a disturbance signal is added, the overshoot of the fuzzy PID control system is reduced by 2.4%, and the response speed is increased by 6.8% compared with the fixed-parameter PID control system. The dynamic response rate and anti-disturbance performance are better than those of the fixed-parameter PID control system. A bench comparison test was carried out. The results showed that the S-curve acceleration and deceleration motion control algorithm reduced the average mass loss rate of seedlings by 46.19% compared with the trapezoidal acceleration and deceleration motion control algorithm, and the seedling picking efficiency met the design requirements. Fuzzy PID positioning control was used, and the maximum displacement error of the end effector during seedling picking was −1.4 mm, and the average relative error rate was 0.22%, which met the positioning accuracy requirements of the end effector in the X-axis direction and verified the stability and accuracy of the designed control system. The designed control system was tested in the field, and the average comprehensive success rate of seedling picking and throwing reached 96.2%, which verified the feasibility and practicality of the control system. This study introduces a rigid–flexible coupled constant force actuator integrated with Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC) to tackle the rigidity–compliance trade-off in precision force-sensitive applications. The actuator utilizes compliant hinges to decrease contact stiffness by three orders of magnitude (106103 N/m), facilitating effective force management through millimeter-scale placement (0.1∼1 mm) and inherently mitigating high-frequency disturbances. The ADRC framework, augmented by an Extended State Observer (ESO), dynamically assesses and compensates for internal nonlinearities (such as friction hysteresis) and external disturbances without necessitating accurate system models. Experimental results indicate enhanced performance compared to PID control: under dynamic disturbances, force deviations are limited to ±0.2 N with a 98.5% reduction in mean absolute error, a 96.3% increase in settling speed, and 99% suppression of oscillations. The co-design of mechanical compliance with model-free control addresses the constraints of traditional high-stiffness systems, providing a scalable solution for industrial robots, compliant material processing, and medical device operations. Validation of the prototype under sinusoidal perturbations demonstrates reliable force regulation (settling time <0.56 s, errors <0.5 N), underscoring its relevance in dynamic situations. This study integrates theoretical innovation with experimental precision, enhancing intelligent manufacturing systems via adaptive control and structural synergy. Full article

This paper addresses the challenges of broadband impedance identification in wind farms connected to the power grid, where broadband oscillations can compromise grid stability. Traditional impedance modeling approaches, including white-box and black/grey-box methods, face limitations in real-world applications, particularly when dealing with commercial new energy units with unknown control structures. To overcome these challenges, a novel real-time impedance identification method is proposed for PMSGs(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generators). The method, called ASSA (Attention-based Shared and Specific Architecture), utilizes a multi-task neural network model combined with an attention mechanism to improve the accuracy of impedance fitting across different frequency bands. A broadband impedance dataset is constructed offline under various operating conditions, incorporating uncertainties like wind speed. The proposed approach offers an efficient solution for impedance identification, enhancing the stability and reliability of grid-connected renewable energy systems. Full article

In this study, a self-propelled hard hose traveler is developed as a modification of the conventional design. The traveler demonstrated enhanced field applicability and intelligence level in Europe and central–eastern China. A parametric configuration scheme was attained through the irrigator’s computational modeling and experimental validation. This study proposed a uniform water distribution calculation model for single-sprinkler linear-move irrigation. The deviation rate between calculated and experimental values was 7.3%. The average application depth decreased with increased sprinkler motion speed and path spacing. The uniformity of water distribution (CU value) exhibited an oscillating trend as the path spacing changed. As the sprinkler rotation angle increased along a specific path, the CU value first rose from 69.2% to 80.0% and then declined to 68.7%. When irrigation and sprinkler motions were combined, the CU value at 1.5 R initially decreased from 92.1% to 72.9%, then increased to 84.2% as the sprinkler rotation angle increased. The combined sprinkler and irrigation motions showed a significantly better uniformity than the specific path irrigation. The highest CU value was 95.0%, with a nozzle diameter of 16.0 × 6.0 mm, a sprinkler rotation angle of 180°, and a path spacing of 1.6 R. This study introduces a novel approach for water-saving irrigation equipment and offers practical guidance for farmers on operating the self-propelled hard hose traveler. Full article

High-speed aircraft actuators are critical for precise control of aerodynamic surfaces, demanding fast response, accuracy, and robustness against uncertainties and disturbances. However, the complex nonlinear dynamics of these systems pose significant challenges for conventional control methods. Sliding mode control (SMC) offers robust performance and rapid transient response but is hindered by chattering, which can degrade performance. To address this, this paper proposes an innovative nonlinear control strategy that integrates global nonsingular terminal sliding mode control (NTSMC) for finite-time convergence with fuzzy logic-based adaptive gain tuning to mitigate chattering and suppress oscillations. A prototype actuator and experimental platform were developed to validate the approach. Experimental results demonstrate superior dynamic response and disturbance rejection compared to traditional methods, highlighting the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy. Full article

This study investigated the influence of long-term climatic phenomena on the hydroclimatic dynamics of the Grey River Basin in Chilean Patagonia. By analyzing hydroclimatological datasets from the last four decades (1980 to 2020), including precipitation, temperature, wind speed, potential evapotranspiration, and streamflow, we identified key trends and correlations with three large-scale climate indices: the Antarctic Oscillation (AAO), El Niño—Southern Oscillation (ENSO), and Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO). Statistical methods such as the Mann–Kendall test, Sen’s slope, PCA, and wavelet coherence were applied. The results indicate a significant upward trend in streamflow, with Sen’s slope of 0.710 m3/s/year (p-value = 0.020), particularly since 2002, while other variables showed limited or no significant trends. AAO exhibited the strongest correlations with streamflow and wind speed, while ENSO 3.4 was the most influential ENSO index, especially during the two extreme El Niño events in 1982, 1997, and 2014. PDO showed weaker relationships overall. Wavelet analysis revealed coherent periodicities at 1- and 2-year frequencies between AAO and flow (wavelet coherence = 0.44), and at 2- to 4-year intervals between ENSO and precipitation (wavelet coherence = 0.63). These findings highlight the sensitivity of the Grey River basin to climatic variability and reinforce the need for integrated water resource management in the face of ongoing climate change.
