Background/Objectives: The diminished efficacy of azoles in treating fungal infections is attributed to the emergence of resistance among pathogenic fungi. Employing a synergistic approach with other compounds to enhance the antifungal activity of azoles has shown promise, yet the availability of clinically valuable adjuvants for azoles and allylamines remains limited. Studies have demonstrated that the human host environment provides multiple carbon sources, which can influence the susceptibility of C. albicans to antifungal agents. Therefore, a comprehensive investigation into the mechanisms by which carbon sources modulate the susceptibility of C. albicans to azoles may uncover a novel pathway for enhancing the antifungal efficacy of azoles. Methods: This study explored the impact of various carbon sources on the antifungal efficacy of azoles through methodologies including minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) assessments, super-MIC growth (SMG) assays, disk diffusion tests, and spot assays. Additionally, the mechanism by which galactose augments the antifungal activity of azoles was investigated using a range of experimental approaches, such as gene knockout and overexpression techniques, quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), Western blot analysis, and cycloheximide (CHX) chase experiments. Results: This study observed that galactose enhances the efficacy of azoles against C. albicans by inhibiting the translation of Erg1. This results in the suppression of Erg1 protein levels and subsequent inhibition of ergosterol biosynthesis in C. albicans. Conclusions: In C. albicans, the translation of Erg1 is inhibited when galactose is utilized as a carbon source instead of glucose. This novel discovery of galactose’s inhibitory effect on Erg1 translation is expected to enhance the antifungal efficacy of azoles. Full article

The green renovation of existing residential buildings is a key way for the construction industry to achieve sustainable development and the dual carbon goals of China, which makes it urgent to make collaborative decisions among multiple stakeholders. However, because of divergent interests and risk perceptions among governments, energy service companies (ESCOs), and owners, the implementation of green renovation is hindered by numerous obstacles. In this study, we integrated prospect theory and evolutionary game theory by incorporating core prospect-theory parameters such as loss aversion and perceived value sensitivity, and developed a psychologically informed tripartite evolutionary game model. The objective was to provide a theoretical foundation and analytical framework for collaborative governance among stakeholders. Numerical simulations were conducted to validate the model’s effectiveness and explore how government regulation intensity, subsidy policies, market competition, and individual psychological factors influence the system’s evolutionary dynamics. The findings indicate that (1) government regulation and subsidy policies play central guiding roles in the early stages of green renovation, but the effectiveness has clear limitations; (2) ESCOs are most sensitive to policy incentives and market competition, and moderately increasing their risk costs can effectively deter opportunistic behavior associated with low-quality renovation; (3) owners’ willingness to participate is primarily influenced by expected returns and perceived renovation risks, while economic incentives alone have limited impact; and (4) the evolutionary outcomes are highly sensitive to parameters from prospect theory, The system’s evolutionary outcomes are highly sensitive to prospect theory parameters. High levels of loss aversion (λ) and loss sensitivity (β) tend to drive the system into a suboptimal equilibrium characterized by insufficient demand, while high gain sensitivity (α) serves as a key driving force for the system’s evolution toward the ideal equilibrium. This study offers theoretical support for optimizing green renovation policies for existing residential buildings in China and provides practical recommendations for improving market competition mechanisms, thereby promoting the healthy development of the green renovation market. Population aging poses significant challenges to the sustainability of pension systems. This study presents an integrated methodological approach that uniquely combines actuarial life-cycle modeling with agent-based simulation to assess the potential of Reverse Mortgage Loans (RMLs) as a dual lever for enhancing retiree welfare and supporting pension system resilience under demographic and financial uncertainty. We explore Reverse Mortgage Loans (RMLs) as a potential financial instrument to support retirees while alleviating pressure on public pensions. Unlike prior research that treats individual decisions or policy outcomes in isolation, our hybrid model explicitly captures feedback loops between household-level behavior and system-wide financial stability. To test our hypothesis that RMLs can improve individual consumption outcomes and bolster systemic solvency, we develop a hybrid model combining actuarial techniques and agent-based simulations, incorporating stochastic housing prices, longevity risk, regulatory capital requirements, and demographic shifts. This dual-framework enables a structured investigation of how micro-level financial decisions propagate through market dynamics, influencing solvency, pricing, and adoption trends. Our central hypothesis is that reverse mortgages, when actuarially calibrated and macroprudentially regulated, enhance individual financial well-being while preserving long-run solvency at the system level. Simulation results indicate that RMLs can improve consumption smoothing, raise expected utility for retirees, and contribute to long-term fiscal sustainability. Moreover, we introduce a dynamic regulatory mechanism that adjusts capital buffers based on evolving market and demographic conditions, enhancing system resilience. Our simulation design supports multi-scenario testing of financial robustness and policy outcomes, providing a transparent tool for stress-testing RML adoption at scale. These findings suggest that, when well-regulated, RMLs can serve as a viable supplement to traditional retirement financing. Rather than offering prescriptive guidance, this framework provides insights to policymakers, financial institutions, and regulators seeking to integrate RMLs into broader pension strategies. Motion-capture data provide high accuracy but are difficult to obtain, necessitating dataset augmentation. To our knowledge, no prior study has investigated few-shot generative models for motion-capture data that address both quality and diversity. We tackle the diversity loss that arises with extremely small datasets (n ≤ 10) by applying transfer learning and continual learning to retain the rich variability of a larger pretraining corpus. To assess quality, we introduce MFMMD (Motion Feature-Based Maximum Mean Discrepancy)—a metric well-suited for small samples—and evaluate diversity with the multimodality metric. Our method embeds an Elastic Weight Consolidation (EWC)-based regularization term in the generator’s loss and then fine-tunes the limited motion-capture set. We analyze how the strength of this term influences diversity and uncovers motion-specific characteristics, revealing behavior that differs from that observed in image-generation tasks. The experiments indicate that the transfer learning pipeline improves generative performance in low-data scenarios. Increasing the weight of the regularization term yields higher diversity in the synthesized motions, demonstrating a marked uplift in motion diversity. These findings suggest that the proposed approach can effectively augment small motion-capture datasets with greater variety, a capability expected to benefit applications that rely on diverse human-motion data across modern robotics, animation, and virtual reality. Fuel price increases have long been a contentious issue in Indonesia, sparking intense public and political debates. This study examines how digital media, particularly Kompas.com and Tempo.co, shape public discourse on fuel price hikes through mediatization. Using discourse network analysis, this study compares the political narratives surrounding fuel price increases during the administrations of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (2013) and Joko Widodo (2022). The findings reveal a shift in dominant discourse—opposition to price hikes was prominent in both periods, with government authority and economic justification emphasized in 2013, whereas concerns over rising living costs and social unrest dominated in 2022. This study highlights how mediatization has transformed policymaking from deliberative discussions into fragmented media battles, where digital platforms amplify competing narratives rather than facilitating consensus. Kompas.com predominantly featured counter-discourses, while Tempo.co exhibited stronger pro-government narratives in 2013. This study suggests that while digital media plays a crucial role in shaping policy perceptions, it does not necessarily translate into policy influence. It contributes to the broader understanding of the media’s role in policy debates. It underscores the need for more strategic government communication to manage public expectations and mitigate political unrest surrounding fuel price adjustments. Full article

In the attention-driven environment of online video platforms, understanding the factors that influence content selection and channel subscriptions is crucial for creators, marketers, and platform managers. This study investigates how thumbnails, view counts, video length, genre, and the number of advertisements affect user decision-making on YouTube. Grounded in random utility theory and reference-dependent preference theory, this study conducted a choice experiment with 525 respondents and employed a combined model of rank-ordered and binary logit methods to analyze viewing and subscription behaviors. The results indicate a significant preference for thumbnails with subtitles and shorter videos. Notably, we found evidence of reference-dependent effects, whereby a higher-than-expected number of ads decreased viewing probability, while a lower-than-expected number significantly increased subscription probability. This study advances our understanding of the factors that influence user behavior on social media, specifically in terms of viewing and subscribing, and empirically supports prospect theory in the online advertising market. Our findings offer both theoretical and practical insights into optimizing video content and monetization strategies in competitive social media markets. Full article

Background/Objectives: Senior nurses in Taiwan shoulder layered responsibilities shaped by professional roles, gendered expectations, and family duty. Although Taiwan faces a persistent shortage of experienced clinical nurses, limited research has explored how long-serving nurses sustain identity and commitment across decades of caregiving. This study examines how senior staff nurses understand their journeys of becoming—and remaining—nurses within a culturally and emotionally complex landscape. Methods: Interviews were conducted between May 2019 and September 2023 in locations chosen by participants, with most sessions face-to-face and others undertaken via video conferencing during COVID-19. This narrative inquiry involved in-depth, multi-session interviews with five female senior staff nurses born in the 1970s to early 1980s. Each participant reflected on her life and career, supported by co-constructed “nursing life lines.” Thematic narrative analysis was conducted using McCormack’s five-lens framework and Riessman’s model, with ethical rigor ensured through reflexive journaling and participant validation. Results: Three overarching themes emerged: (1) inner strength and endurance, highlighting silent resilience and the ethical weight of caregiving; (2) support and responsibility in relationships, revealing the influence of family, faith, and relational duty; and (3) role navigation and professional identity, showing how nurses revisit meaning, self-understanding, and tensions across time. Participants described emotionally powerful moments, identity re-connection, and cultural values that shaped their paths. Conclusions: These narratives offer a relational and culturally embedded understanding of what it means to sustain a career in nursing. Narrative inquiry created space for reflection, meaning-making, and voice in a system where such voices are often unheard. Identity was not static—it was lived, reshaped, and held in story. Understanding the social drivers of pro-environmental behavior in urban forests and green spaces is critical for addressing sustainability challenges. Subjective norms serve as a key pathway through which social expectations influence individuals’ behavioral intentions. Despite mixed findings in the literature regarding the impact of subjective norms on individuals’ intentions, there is a research gap about the determinants of this construct. This study was conducted to explore how social expectations shape perceived subjective norms among visitors of urban forests. A theoretical model was developed with subjective norms at its center, incorporating their predictors including social identity, media influence, interpersonal influence, and institutional trust, personal norms as a mediator, and behavioral intention as the outcome variable. Using structural equation modeling, data was collected and analyzed from a sample of visitors of urban forests in Tehran, Iran. The results revealed that subjective norms play a central mediating role in linking external social factors to behavioral intention. Social identity emerged as the strongest predictor of subjective norms, followed by media and interpersonal influence, while institutional trust had no significant effect. Subjective norms significantly influenced both personal norms and intentions, and personal norms also directly predicted intention. The model explained 50.9% of the variance in subjective norms and 39.0% in behavioral intention, highlighting its relatively high explanatory power. These findings underscore the importance of social context and internalized norms in shaping sustainable behavior. Policy and managerial implications suggest that strategies should prioritize community-based identity reinforcement, media engagement, and peer influence over top-down institutional messaging. This study contributes to environmental psychology and the behavior change literature by offering an integrated, empirically validated model. It also provides practical guidance for designing interventions that target both social and moral dimensions of environmental action. Full article

This study adopts a dynamic Expectancy–Disconfirmation framework to investigate the evolving nature of user satisfaction across three product categories: durable goods, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and digital products. A 25-day longitudinal experiment involving 128 participants was conducted, during which users engaged with their most recently purchased products and provided repeated subjective evaluations over time. The findings reveal dynamic changes in the influence of expectations and perceived performance on satisfaction throughout the product usage cycle. For durable goods and FMCG, both expectations and perceived performance gradually declined, accompanied by a weakening effect of expectations on satisfaction. In contrast, digital products exhibited greater volatility, lacking a stable experiential baseline and resulting in greater fluctuations in satisfaction trajectories. Moreover, external contextual and emotional factors were found to play a more significant role in shaping satisfaction with physical products, beyond the scope of the traditional expectancy–performance model. These insights offer theoretical and managerial implications for sustainable product and experience design. In particular, they highlight the importance of implementing experience-stabilizing strategies in digital consumption contexts to support user well-being and enhance continuous product utilization, thereby maximizing product potential and reducing waste. Elucidating the coexistence mechanisms of rapidly diverging species has long been a challenge in evolutionary biology. Genome-wide polymorphic loci are expected to provide insights into the speciation processes of these closely related species. This study focused on seven Chinese sclerophyllous oaks, represented by Quercus spinosa, Quercus aquifolioides, Quercus rehderiana, Quercus guyavifolia, Quercus monimotricha, Quercus semecarpifolia, and Quercus senescens, employing 27,592 single-nucleotide polymorphisms to examine their phylogenetic relationships at the genomic level. Combined with genetic structure analysis, phylogenetic trees revealed that the genetic clustering of individuals was influenced by both geographic distance and ancestral genetic components. Furthermore, this study confirmed the existence of reticulate evolutionary relationships among the species. Frequent gene flow and introgression within the seven species were primarily responsible for the ambiguous interspecies boundaries, with hybridization serving as a major driver of reticulate evolution. Additionally, the seven species exhibited distinct differences in niche occupancy. By reconstructing the climatic adaptability of ancestral taxonomic units, we found that the climatic tolerance of each species displayed differential responses to 19 climatic factors. Consequently, ecological niche differentiation and variations in habitat adaptation contributed to the preservation of species boundaries. This study provides a comprehensive understanding of the speciation processes in rapidly diverging genera and underscores the significance of both genetic and ecological factors in the formation and maintenance of species boundaries. It is well-established that principal leadership significantly influences student learning in developed countries, yet much less is known about how leadership practices manifest in complex systems like China’s, where rapid modernization intersects with deep-rooted educational traditions. In particular, Chinese principals face multiple challenges in balancing the implementation of educational reform policies, high parental expectations, and their own educational ideology, all within limited resources. The current study examines these challenges in Shenzhen, a city which typically manifests them through its rapid development. Specifically, we took a phenomenographic approach and interviewed the principals and staff from five prestigious primary schools to extract the key components behind the diverse school leaders’ styles and practices. Results showed that, the Chinese leadership practice model consists of five key components: mission setting, infrastructure reconstruction, teacher development, learning improvement, and educators’ networking. Although the first four components in this model align with established theories in developed countries, networking was identified as a distinctive and critical element for securing resources and fostering collaboration. These findings may broaden the scope of leadership theories and underscore the need to contextualize leadership practices based on local challenges and dynamics. It also offers practical insights for school leaders on navigating challenges to improve teacher and student outcomes. Full article

The response time of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) inference is critical in embedded systems processing sensor data close to the source. This is particularly important in applications such as predictive maintenance, which rely on timely state change predictions. This study enables estimation of model response times based on the underlying platform, highlighting the importance of benchmarking generic ANN applications on edge devices. We analyze the impact of network parameters, activation functions, and single- versus multi-threading on response times. Additionally, potential hardware-related influences, such as clock rate variances, are discussed. The results underline the complexity of task partitioning and scheduling strategies, stressing the need for precise parameter coordination to optimise performance across platforms. This study shows that cutting-edge frameworks do not necessarily perform the required operations automatically for all configurations, which may negatively impact performance. This paper further investigates the influence of network structure on model calibration, quantified using the Expected Calibration Error (ECE), and the limits of potential optimisation opportunities. It also examines the effects of model conversion to Tensorflow Lite (TFLite), highlighting the necessity of considering both performance and calibration when deploying models on embedded systems. This study investigates mechanisms that influence how users perceive a technology’s usefulness after adoption as they continue to use the technology. The Expectation Confirmation Model (ECM) has been widely used to examine the key drivers of IT continuance, emphasizing perceived usefulness as a central factor. Although researchers have explored factors, such as ease of use, trust, and site quality, affecting post-adoption perceived usefulness, the mechanisms shaping post-adoption perceived usefulness remain underexplored. This study proposes that post-adoption perceived usefulness is shaped through the actualization of the technology’s affordances. Using a survey focused on fitness app usage (e.g., Fitbit), we examined various affordances users actualize and whether actualization of an affordance shapes their perception of usefulness. Results show that some affordances are actualized widely by most users (e.g., exercise status updating) while others are actualized by fewer users (e.g., reminders to exercise or guiding users how to exercise). Moreover, when an affordance is widely actualized, it significantly influences users’ perceptions of usefulness within the ECM framework. Given that perceived usefulness is a key factor in predicting IT continuance, our findings contribute to the literature by highlighting the influence of actualized affordances on perceptions of usefulness and hence IT continuance. Background/Objectives: Anterior dental trauma in adolescents presents complex restorative challenges due to ongoing craniofacial development and high aesthetic expectations. This study evaluated the long-term clinical performance of feldspathic ceramic veneers and lithium disilicate crowns used in the anterior region following dental trauma in adolescents. Methods: A total of 209 restorations were placed in 85 adolescents (50 females, 35 males), aged 11.1–17.9 years (mean age: 15.1 years). Of these, 144 were lithium disilicate crowns, and 65 were feldspathic ceramic veneers. All restorations were fabricated using minimally invasive protocols and followed up for periods ranging from 3 to 60 months. Outcomes were assessed based on standardized clinical criteria for success and failure. Results: Lithium disilicate crowns exhibited superior long-term performance, with the majority of failures occurring in feldspathic veneers (p < 0.001), primarily due to chipping or structural fracture. Age and gender had no statistically significant influence on failure rates. Conclusions: Both feldspathic and lithium disilicate ceramic restorations represent viable treatment options for anterior dental trauma in adolescents. However, lithium disilicate demonstrates greater mechanical reliability, particularly in teeth with significant hard tissue loss. These results support the use of durable ceramic materials in adolescent restorative protocols involving dental trauma. Full article

Evaluation and Application of the MaxEnt Model to Quantify L. nanum Habitat Distribution Under Current and Future Climate Conditions

Understanding alpine plants’ survival and reproduction is crucial for their conservation in climate change. Based on 423 valid distribution points, this study utilizes the MaxEnt model to predict the potential habitat and distribution dynamics of Leontopodium nanum under both current and future climate scenarios, while clarifying the key factors that influence its distribution. The primary ecological drivers of distribution are altitude (2886.08 m–5576.14 m) and the mean temperature of the driest quarter (−6.60–1.55 °C). Currently, the suitable habitat area is approximately 520.28 × 104 km2, covering about 3.5% of the global land area, concentrated mainly in the Tibetan Plateau, with smaller regions across East and South Asia. Under future climate scenarios, low-emission (SSP126), suitable areas are projected to expand during the 2050s and 2070s. High-emission (SSP585), suitable areas may decrease by 50%, with a 66.07% reduction in highly suitable areas by the 2070s. The greatest losses are expected in the south-eastern Tibetan Plateau. Regarding dynamic habitat changes, by the 2050s, newly suitable areas will account for 51.09% of the current habitat, while 68.26% of existing habitat will become unsuitable. By the 2070s, newly suitable areas will rise to 71.86% of the current total, but the loss of existing areas will exceed these gains, particularly under the high-emission scenario. The centroid of suitable habitats is expected to shift northward, with migration distances ranging from 23.94 km to 342.42 km. The most significant shift is anticipated under the SSP126 scenario by the 2070s. This study offers valuable insights into the distribution dynamics of L. nanum and other alpine species under the context of climate change. From a conservation perspective, it is recommended to prioritize the protection and restoration of vegetation in key habitat patches or potential migration corridors, restrict overgrazing and infrastructure development, and maintain genetic diversity and dispersal capacity through assisted migration and population genetic monitoring when necessary. These measures aim to provide a robust scientific foundation for the comprehensive conservation and sustainable management of the grassland ecosystem on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau. Full article
