In rapidly urbanizing regions, escalating land use conflicts have raised concerns over sustainable development and ecological security. This study focuses on the Chang-Ji-Tu Development and Opening Pilot Zone in Jilin Province, aiming to reveal the spatiotemporal evolution of land use conflicts and identify their driving factors, based on land use data from 2000 to 2023. The study employs land use data, the PLUS model, SCCI, and the geographic detector to analyze conflict dynamics and influencing factors. Cropland and forest land have steadily declined, while construction land has expanded. Conflicts exhibit a spatial gradient of “western pressure, central alleviation, and eastern stability,” with hotspots in Changchun, Jilin, and Yanji. Conflict evolution is categorized into three phases: intensification (2000–2010), peak (2010–2015), and mitigation (2015–2023), as shaped by industrialization and later policy interventions. Among four simulated scenarios, the Sustainable Development (SD) scenario most effectively postpones conflict escalation. Population density and DEM emerged as dominant driving factors. Natural factors have greater explanatory power for land use conflicts than do socio-economic or locational factors. Strengthening spatial planning coordination and refining conflict governance are key to balancing human–environment interactions in the region. Full article

With the significant growth in the number of PHEVs, conducting in-depth research on their CO2 emission characteristics is essential. This study used the Horiba OBS-ONE Portable Emission Measurement System (PEMS) to measure the CO2 emissions of three Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) types: one Series Hybrid Electric Vehicle (S-HEV), one Parallel Hybrid Electric Vehicle (P-HEV), and one Series-Parallel Hybrid Electric Vehicle (SP-HEV), during real driving conditions. The findings show a correlation between acceleration and increased CO2 emissions for P-HEV, while acceleration has a relatively minor impact on S-HEV and SP-HEV emissions. Under urban driving conditions, the SP-HEV displays the lowest average CO2 emission rate. However, under suburban and highway conditions, the average CO2 emission rates follow the order S-HEV > SP-HEV > P-HEV. An analysis of CO2 emission factors across different road types and vehicle-specific power (VSP) ranges indicates that within low VSP intervals (VSP ≤ 0 for urban, VSP ≤ 5 for suburban, and VSP ≤ 15 for highway roads), the P-HEV exhibits the best CO2 emission control. As VSP increases, the P-HEV’s emission factors rise under all three road conditions, with its emission control capability weakening when VSP exceeds 5 in urban, 15 in suburban, and 20 on highway roads. For the SP-HEV, CO2 emission factors increase with VSP in urban and suburban areas but remain stable on highways. The S-HEV shows minimal changes in emission factors with varying VSP. This research provides valuable insights into the CO2 emission patterns of PHEVs, aiding vehicle optimization and policy development. Full article

Spatiotemporal Changes in Extreme Temperature and Associated Large-Scale Climate Driving Forces in Chongqing

Due to global warming, extreme temperature events have become increasingly prevalent, posing significant threats to both socioeconomic development and human safety. While previous studies have extensively examined the influence of individual climatic circulation systems on extreme temperature, the combined effects of multiple concurrent circulation patterns remain poorly understood. Using daily temperature data from 29 meteorological stations in Chongqing (1960–2019), this study employs linear trend analysis, correlation analysis, and random forest (RF) models to analyze spatiotemporal variations in the intensity and frequency of extreme temperature. We selected 21 climate indicators from three categories—atmospheric circulation, sea surface temperature (SST), and sea-level pressure (SLP)—to identify the primary drivers of extreme temperatures and quantify their respective contributions. The key findings are as follows: (1) All extreme intensity indices exhibited an increasing trend, with the TXx (annual maximum daily maximum temperature) showing the higher trend (0.03 °C/year). The northeastern region experienced the most pronounced increases. (2) Frequency indices also displayed an upward trend. This was particularly evident for the TD35 (number of days with maximum temperature ≥35 °C), which increased at an average rate of 0.16 days/year, most notably in the northeast. (3) The Western Pacific Subtropical High Ridge Position Index (GX) and Asia Polar Vortex Area Index (APV) were the dominant climate factors driving intensity indices, with cumulative contributions of 26.0% to 33.4%, while the Western Pacific Warm Pool Strength Index (WPWPS), Asia Polar Vortex Area Index (APV), North Atlantic Subtropical High Intensity Index (NASH), and Indian Ocean Warm Pool Strength Index (IOWP) were the dominant climate factors influencing frequency indices, with cumulative contributions of 46.4 to 49.5%. The explanatory power of these indices varies spatially across stations, and the RF model effectively identifies key circulation factors at each station. In the future, more attention should be paid to urban planning adaptations, particularly green infrastructure and land use optimization, along with targeted heat mitigation strategies, such as early warning systems and public health interventions, to strengthen urban resilience against escalating extreme temperatures. With the acceleration of urbanization in China, water resources have become a key factor restricting regional sustainable development. Current research primarily examines the temporal or spatial variations in the water resources ecological footprint (WREF), with limited emphasis on the integration of both spatial and temporal scales. In this study, we collected the data and information from the 2005–2022 Statistical Yearbook and Water Resources Bulletin of the Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration (YRDUA), and calculated evaluation indicators: WREF, water resources ecological carrying capacity (WRECC), water resources ecological pressure (WREP), and water resources ecological surplus and deficit (WRESD). We primarily analyzed the temporal and spatial variation in the per capita WREF and used the method of Geodetector to explore factors driving its temporal and spatial variation in the YRDUA. The results showed that: (1) From 2005 to 2022, the per capita WREF (total water, agricultural water, and industrial water) of the YRDUA generally showed fluctuating declining trends, while the per capita WREF of domestic water and ecological water showed obvious growth. (2) The per capita WREF and the per capita WRECC were in the order of Jiangsu Province > Anhui Province > Shanghai City > Zhejiang Province. The spatial distribution of the per capita WREF was similar to those of the per capita WRECC, and most areas effectively consume water resources. (3) The explanatory power of the interaction between factors was greater than that of a single factor, indicating that the spatiotemporal variation in the per capita WREF of the YRDUA was affected by the combination of multiple factors and that there were regional differences in the major factors in the case of secondary metropolitan areas. (4) The per capita WREF of YRDUA was affected by natural resources, and the impact of the ecological condition on the per capita WREF increased gradually over time. The impact factors of secondary metropolitan areas also clearly changed over time. Our results showed that the ecological situation of per capita water resources in the YRDUA is generally good, with obvious spatial and temporal differences. Full article

Although numerous studies have examined the spatial patterns of traditional villages and their driving factors, limited attention has been devoted to the transformation of tourism. This study focused on traditional villages in Shaanxi Province, employing geodetector and grounded theory methods to analyze their spatial distribution characteristics and influencing factors. First, most traditional villages have not developed tourism. Only 11.98% reached the relatively mature tourism stage. Second, the spatial distribution of mature traditional tourism villages is scattered and primarily clustered in Liuba County, Mizhi County, and Jia County. Third, the factors influencing spatial distribution characteristics include resource endowment, transportation accessibility, and regional economic conditions. Among these factors, the level of traditional villages, village heritage values, and the local tourism environment show the strongest explanatory power. These findings can help enhance cultural resilience, promote economic transformation and upgrading, and support the sustainable development of traditional villages. Full article

Despite advances in medicine, cancer remains one of the foremost global health concerns. Conventional treatments like surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy have advanced with the emergence of targeted and immunotherapy approaches. However, therapeutic resistance and relapse remain major barriers to long-term success in cancer treatment, often driven by cancer stem cells (CSCs). These rare, resilient cells can survive therapy and drive tumour regrowth, urging deeper investigation into the mechanisms underlying their persistence. CSCs express ion channels typical of excitable tissues, which, beyond electrophysiology, critically regulate CSC fate. However, the underlying regulatory mechanisms of these channels in CSCs remain largely unexplored and poorly understood. Nevertheless, the therapeutic potential of targeting CSC ion channels is immense, as it offers a powerful strategy to disrupt vital signalling pathways involved in numerous pathological conditions. In this review, we explore the diverse repertoire of ion channels expressed in CSCs and highlight recent mechanistic insights into how these channels modulate CSC behaviours, dynamics, and functions. We present a concise overview of ion channel-mediated CSC regulation, emphasizing their potential as novel diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets, and identifying key areas for future research. The discharge behavior of agricultural materials from silos is significantly influenced by external driving forces. Pressurized discharge from silos is an effective method for analyzing localized stress distribution and controlling flow rates. In this study, a combined approach of experiments and Discrete Element Method (DEM) simulations was employed to investigate the forced flow behavior of rice particle beds. Detailed analyses were conducted on flow patterns, velocity distributions, mass flow rates, dynamic arch formation, bottom stress distribution, and load propagation. Furthermore, the dissipative power during discharge was calculated based on the local shear at the silo wall, and a master curve for the dissipative power was presented. This curve facilitates the prediction of energy dissipation during silo discharge under various conditions. The findings provide a foundation and data support for the structural optimization of silos. Full article

Incentive-Compatible Mechanism Design for Medium- and Long-Term/Spot Market Coordination in High-Penetration Renewable Energy Systems

In line with the goals of “peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality”, this study aims to develop a market-coordinated operation mechanism to promote renewable energy adoption and consumption, addressing the challenges of integrating medium- and long-term trading with spot markets in power systems with high renewable energy penetration. A three-stage joint operation framework is proposed. First, a medium- and long-term trading game model is established, considering multiple energy types to optimize the benefits of market participants. Second, machine learning algorithms are employed to predict renewable energy output, and a contract decomposition mechanism is developed to ensure a smooth transition from medium- and long-term contracts to real-time market operations. Finally, a day-ahead market-clearing strategy and an incentive-compatible settlement mechanism, incorporating the constraints from contract decomposition, are proposed to link the two markets effectively. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed mechanism effectively enhances resource allocation and stabilizes market operations, leading to significant revenue improvements across various generation units and increased renewable energy utilization. Specifically, thermal power units achieve a 19.12% increase in revenue, while wind and photovoltaic units show more substantial gains of 38.76% and 47.52%, respectively. Concurrently, the mechanism drives a 10.61% increase in renewable energy absorption capacity and yields a 13.47% improvement in Tradable Green Certificate (TGC) utilization efficiency, confirming its overall effectiveness. This research shows that coordinated optimization between medium- and long-term/spot markets, combined with a well-designed settlement mechanism, significantly strengthens the market competitiveness of renewable energy, providing theoretical support for the market-based operation of the new power system. Temporal and Spatial Evolution of Gross Primary Productivity of Vegetation and Its Driving Factors on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Based on Geographical Detectors

To investigate the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics and primary driving factors of Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, we employed an enhanced MODIS-PSN model. Utilizing the fifth-generation global climate reanalysis dataset (ECMWF ERA5), we generated GPP remote sensing products by integrating six natural factors. Through correlation analysis and geographical detector modeling, we quantitatively analyzed the spatiotemporal dynamics and key drivers of vegetation GPP across the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from 2001 to 2022. The results demonstrate that GPP changes across the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau display pronounced spatial heterogeneity. The humid northeastern and southeastern regions exhibit significantly positive change rates, primarily distributed across wetland and forest ecosystems, with a maximum mean annual change rate of 12.40 gC/m2/year. In contrast, the central and southern regions display a decreasing trend, with the minimum change rate reaching −1.61 gC/m2/year, predominantly concentrated in alpine grasslands and desert areas. Vegetation GPP on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau shows significant correlations with temperature, vapor pressure deficit (VPD), evapotranspiration (ET), leaf area index (LAI), precipitation, and radiation. Among the factors analyzed, LAI demonstrates the strongest explanatory power for spatial variations in vegetation GPP across the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The dominant factors influencing vegetation GPP on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau are LAI, ET, and precipitation. The pairwise interactions between these factors exhibit linear enhancement effects, demonstrating synergistic multifactor interactions. This study systematically analyzed the response mechanisms and variations of vegetation GPP to multiple driving factors across the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from a spatial heterogeneity perspective. The findings provide both a critical theoretical framework and practical insights for better understanding ecosystem response dynamics and drought conditions on the plateau. Full article

This paper presents a new methodical procedure to monitor in real time the junction temperature of SiC Power MOSFET modules of parallel-connected chips utilized in machine drive systems to develop their reliability modelling and predict their lifetime. The paper implements the on-line measurements of temperature-sensitive electrical parameters (TSEP) approach, particularly the quasi-threshold voltage and the on-state drain to source voltage, to estimate the junction temperature in real time. The proposed procedure firstly applied computational fluid dynamics analysis on the module under study to determine the chip which undergoes the maximum junction temperature during typical operation of the module. Then, a calibration phase, using double-pulse tests on the selected chip, is used to generate look-up tables to relate the TSEPs under study to the junction temperature. Next, the real-time estimation of junction temperature was accomplished during the on-line operation of the three-phase inverter, taking into account the induced distortion/noises due to operation of the parallel-connected chips in the module. After that, a comparison between the two TSEPs under study was provided to demonstrate their advantages/drawbacks. Finally, reliability modelling was developed to predict the lifetime of the studied module based on the estimated junction temperature under a predetermined mission profile. Full article

Electric motors play a decisive role in electric vehicles by converting electrical energy into mechanical motion across various drivetrain components. However, failures in these motors can interrupt the motor function, with approximately 40% of these failures stemming from bearing issues. Key contributors to bearing degradation include shaft voltage, bearing current, and electric discharge material spalling current, especially in motors powered by inverters or variable frequency drives. This review explores the tribological and vibrational aspects of bearing currents, analyzing their mechanisms and influence on electric motor performance. It addresses the challenges faced by electric vehicles, such as high-speed operation, elevated temperatures, electrical conductivity, and energy efficiency. This study investigates the origins of bearing currents, damage linked to shaft voltage and electric discharge material spalling current, and the effects of lubricant properties on bearing functionality. Moreover, it covers various methods for measuring shaft voltage and bearing current, as well as strategies to alleviate the adverse impacts of bearing currents. This comprehensive analysis aims to shed light on the detrimental effects of bearing currents on the performance and lifespan of electric motors in electric vehicles, emphasizing the importance of tribological considerations for reliable operation and durability. The aim of this study is to address the engineering problem of bearing failure in inverter-fed EV motors by integrating electrical, tribological, and lubrication perspectives. The novelty lies in proposing a conceptual link between lubricant breakdown and damage morphology to guide mitigation strategies. The study tasks include literature review, analysis of bearing current mechanisms and diagnostics, and identification of technological trends. The findings provide insights into lubricant properties and diagnostic approaches that can support industrial solutions. Full article

To address these limitations, this paper proposes a novel U-tube type dual chamber OWC wave energy conversion device integrated within a marine vehicle. The research involves the design of a U-tube dual-chamber OWC device, which utilizes the pitch motion of a marine vehicle to drive the oscillation of water columns within the U-tube, generating reciprocating airflow that drives an air turbine. Numerical simulations using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) were conducted to analyze the effects of various structural dimensions, including device length, width, air chamber height, U-tube channel width, and bottom channel height, on the aerodynamic power output. The simulations considered real sea conditions, focusing on low-frequency waves prevalent in China’s sea areas. Simulation results reveal that increasing the device’s length and width substantially boosts aerodynamic power, while air chamber height and U-tube channel width have minor effects. These findings provide valuable insights into the optimal design of U-tube dual-chamber OWC devices for efficient wave energy conversion, laying the foundation for future physical prototype development and experimental validation. Free-space optical (FSO) communications have emerged as a promising complement to conventional radio-frequency (RF) systems due to their high bandwidth, low interference, and license-free spectrum. Visible-light FSO communication, using laser diodes or LEDs, offers potential for short-range data links, but performance is highly wavelength-dependent under varying atmospheric conditions. This study presents an experimental evaluation of three visible laser diodes at 650 nm (red), 532 nm (green), and 405 nm (violet), focusing on their optical output power, quantum efficiency, and modulation behavior across a range of driving currents and frequencies. A custom laboratory testbed was developed using an Atmega328p microcontroller and a Visual Basic control interface, allowing precise control of current and modulation frequency. A silicon photovoltaic cell was employed as the optical receiver and energy harvester. The results demonstrate that the 650 nm red laser consistently delivers the highest quantum efficiency and optical output, with stable performance across electrical and modulation parameters. These findings support the selection of 650 nm as the most energy-efficient and versatile wavelength for short-range, cost-effective visible-light FSO communication. This work provides experimentally grounded insights to guide wavelength selection in the development of energy-efficient optical wireless systems. Full article

Analysis of the Trade-Off/Synergy Effect and Driving Factors of Ecosystem Services in Hulunbuir City, China

An in-depth understanding of the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of ecosystem service (ES) trade-offs and synergies, along with their driving factors, is crucial for formulating key ecological restoration strategies and effectively allocating ecological environmental resources in the Hulunbuir region. This study employed an integrated analytical approach combining the InVEST model, ArcGIS geospatial processing, R software environment, and Optimal Parameter Geographical Detector (OPGD). The spatiotemporal patterns and driving factors of the interaction of four major ES functions in Hulunbuir area from 2000 to 2020 were studied. The research findings are as follows: (1) carbon storage (CS) and soil conservation (SC) services in the Hulunbuir region mainly show a distribution pattern of high values in the central and northeast areas, with low values in the west and southeast. Water yield (WY) exhibits a distribution pattern characterized by high values in the central–western transition zone and southeast and low values in the west. For forage supply (FS), the overall pattern is higher in the west and lower in the east. (2) The trade-off relationships between CS and WY, CS and SC, and SC and WY are primarily concentrated in the western part of Hulunbuir, while the synergistic relationships are mainly observed in the central and eastern regions. In contrast, the trade-off relationships between CS and FS, as well as FS and WY, are predominantly located in the central and eastern parts of Hulunbuir, with the intensity of these trade-offs steadily increasing. The trade-off relationship between SC and FS is almost widespread throughout HulunBuir. (3) Fractional vegetation cover, mean annual precipitation, and land use type were the primary drivers affecting ESs. Among these factors, fractional vegetation cover demonstrates the highest explanatory power, with a q-value between 0.6 and 0.9. The slope and population density exhibit relatively weak explanatory power, with q-values ranging from 0.001 to 0.2. (4) The interactions between factors have a greater impact on the inter-relationships of ESs in the Hulunbuir region than individual factors alone. The research findings have facilitated the optimization and sustainable development of regional ES, providing a foundation for ecological conservation and restoration in Hulunbuir. Full article

The growing need for high-efficiency and reliable propulsion systems in naval applications, particularly within the evolving landscape of submarine warfare, has led to an increased interest in multiphase Permanent Magnet AC motors. This study presents a modelling and simulation approach for a 3MW, seventeen-phase Permanent Magnet AC motor designed for submarine propulsion, integrating an AI-based drive control system. Despite the advantages of multiphase motors, such as higher power density and enhanced fault tolerance, significant challenges remain in achieving precise torque and variable speed, especially for externally mounted motors operating under deep-sea conditions. Existing control strategies often struggle with the inherent nonlinearities, unmodelled dynamics, and extreme environmental variations (e.g., pressure, temperature affecting oil viscosity and motor parameters) characteristic of such demanding deep-sea applications, leading to suboptimal performance and compromised reliability. Addressing this gap, this research investigates advanced control methodologies to enhance the performance of such motors. A MATLAB/Simulink framework was developed to model the motor, whose drive system leverages an AI-optimised dual fuzzy-PID controller refined using the Harmony Search Algorithm. Additionally, a combination of Indirect Field-Oriented Control (IFOC) and Space Vector PWM strategies are implemented to optimise inverter switching sequences for precise output modulation. Simulation results demonstrate significant improvements in torque response and control accuracy, validating the efficacy of the proposed system. The results highlight the role of AI-based propulsion systems in revolutionising submarine manoeuvrability and energy efficiency. In particular, during a test case involving a speed transition from 75 RPM to 900 RPM, the proposed AI-based controller achieves a near-zero overshoot compared to an initial control scheme that exhibits 75.89% overshoot.
