In this study, we present a comprehensive theoretical analysis of modifications in the physical and chemical properties of MoSe2 upon the introduction of substitutional transition metal impurities, specifically, Ti, V, Cr, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, W, Pd, and Pt. Wet systematically calculated the adsorption enthalpies for various representative analytes, including O2, H2, CO, CO2, H2O, NO2, formaldehyde, and ethanol, and further evaluated their free energies across a range of temperatures. By employing the formula for probabilities, we accounted for the competition among molecules for active adsorption sites during simultaneous adsorption events. Our findings underscore the importance of integrating temperature effects and competitive adsorption dynamics to predict the performance of highly selective sensors accurately. Additionally, we investigated the influence of temperature and analyte concentration on sensor performance by analyzing the saturation of active sites for specific scenarios using Langmuir sorption theory. Building on our calculated adsorption energies, we screened the catalytic potential of doped MoSe2 for CO2-to-methanol conversion reactions. This paper also examines the correlations between the electronic structure of active sites and their associated sensing and catalytic capabilities, offering insights that can inform the design of advanced materials for sensors and catalytic applications. To address the data acquisition limitations of traditional flow balance methods that stem from insufficient flow rate measurements, this study establishes a pipeline flow calculation model based on the pressure data and proposes a pipeline leak identification approach for product oil pipelines. Firstly, field leak tests are designed and conducted on a product oil pipeline in East China by discharging oil in a valve chamber to simulate the leak process. Subsequently, combining the Bernoulli equation with the Leapienzon formula, a calculation model is established for flow rate prediction using the pressure data monitored at the stations and valve chambers along the pipeline. By analyzing the instantaneous flow rate changes at each pipeline section and pressure drops at each station and valve chamber, a dual-parameter collaborative threshold is set based on the flow balance principle, and leaks are identified when both parameters exceed the threshold simultaneously. Finally, the proposed flow rate calculation model and leak identification method are validated with respect to the field test data. The results show that the flow rate model yields a relative error as low as 0.48%, and the leak identification method accurately captured all six leak events in the field test, indicating very good stability and accuracy, with great potential for leak identification and alarm systems for product oil pipelines in engineering applications. Accurate estimation of biomass higher heating value (HHV) is crucial for designing efficient bioenergy systems. In this study, we developed a Backpropagation artificial neural network (ANN) that predicts HHV from routine proximate/ultimate composition data. The network (9-6-6-1 architecture, trained for 15,000 epochs with learning rate 0.3 and momentum 0.4) was calibrated on 99 diverse Spanish biomass samples (inputs: moisture, ash, volatile matter, fixed carbon, C, H, O, N, S). The optimized ANN achieved strong predictive accuracy (validation R2 ≈ 0.81; mean squared error ≈ 1.33 MJ/kg; MAE ≈ 0.77 MJ/kg), representing a substantial improvement over 54 analytical models despite the known complexity and variability of biomass composition. Importantly, in direct comparisons it significantly outperformed 54 published analytical HHV correlations—the ANN achieved substantially higher R2 and lower prediction error than any fixed-form formula in the literature. A sensitivity analysis confirmed chemically intuitive trends (higher C/H/FC increase HHV; higher moisture/ash/O reduce it), indicating the model learned meaningful fuel-property relationships. The ANN thus provided a computationally efficient and robust tool for rapid, accurate HHV estimation from compositional data. Future work will expand the dataset, incorporate thermal pretreatment effects, and integrate the model into a user-friendly decision-support platform for bioenergy applications. Full article

Research on the grouting reinforcement mechanism of overburden is constrained by the concealed and heterogeneous nature of geotechnical media, posing dual challenges in theoretical analysis and process visualization. Based on discrete element numerical simulations and laboratory tests, an analytical model for grouting reinforcement in overburden layers is developed, revealing the influence of grouting pressure on slurry diffusion shape and distance. The results indicate the following: (1) Contact parameters of overburden and cement particles were obtained through laboratory tests. A grouting model for the overburden layer was established using the discrete element method. After optimizing particle coarsening and the contact model, the simulation more accurately represented slurry diffusion characteristics such as compaction, splitting, and permeability. (2) By monitoring porosity and coordination number distributions near grouting holes before and after injection using circular measurement, the discrete element simulation clearly visualizes the slurry reinforcement range. The reinforcement mechanism is attributed to the combined effects of pore structure compaction (reduced porosity) and cementation within the overburden (increased coordination number). (3) Based on slurry diffusion results, a functional relationship between slurry diffusion radius and grouting pressure is established. Error analysis shows that the modified formula improves the goodness of fit by 34–39% compared to the classical formula (Maag, cylindrical diffusion). The discrete element analysis method proposed in this study elucidates the mechanical mechanisms of overburden grouting reinforcement at the particle scale and provides theoretical support for visual evaluation of concealed structures and optimization of grouting design. Silos are strategic structures widespread in the industrial sectors for post-harvest preservation purposes. Current standards on the seismic design of silos are understandably based on approximate and simplified assumptions, leading intentionally to conservative design-oriented formulae. However, unjustified over-estimation might lead to unnecessary economic losses. As part of the authors’ analytical and experimental ongoing research on the complex seismic behavior of filled silo systems, in this short paper, an in-depth reading of the theoretical framework originally proposed during the 1970s and 1980s is provided to present a better understanding of the unexplained design-oriented formula of the seismic additional pressure in the European standard. A conceptual incongruence in the Eurocode EN1998-4:2006 is pointed out and discussed regarding the dynamic overpressure formula in the case of ground-supported flat-bottom circular silos subjected to seismic excitation. Specifically, a potential miscounting of the geometrical aspect in circular silos, with respect to rectangular ones, leads to an inconsistent amplification of the additional pressures in the range 1.65–2, depending on the filling aspect ratio of the silo. This inconsistency provides the reason for several unexplained results recently published in the scientific literature. A proposal for a physically based correction, retaining the current assumptions made by the EN1998-4, is finally given. Full article

This study proposes a design method for near-slope roads along multi-level slopes that integrates excavation requirements and post-construction ecological restoration through sprayed eco-protection. Firstly, the design principles and procedural steps for near-slope roads are established. The planar layouts of multi-level slopes are categorized, including mixing areas, turnaround areas, berms, and access ramps. Critical technical parameters, such as curve radii and widths of berms and ramps, as well as dimensional specifications for turnaround areas, are systematically formulated with corresponding design formulas. The methodology is applied to the ecological restoration project of multi-level slopes in the Huamahu mountainous area, and a comparative technical-economic analysis is conducted between the proposed design and the original scheme. Results demonstrate that the optimized design reduces additional maintenance costs caused by near-slope roads by 6.5–8.0% during the curing period. This research advances the technical framework for multi-level slope governance and enhances the ecological design standards for slope protection engineering. Full article

This paper discusses the possibilities of using stump wood as a raw material for energy generation. The research was based on an analysis of the state of knowledge, forest field studies, and participatory observations. A formula was sought to optimise the procurement cost of stump wood appropriate to Polish conditions. Conceptualisation was carried out in a selected area of the Notecka Forest in the Wielkopolska region, located in western Poland. A pilot study was designed to test a computational formula to assess the profitability of harvesting wood from stump wood resources for energy generation. The potential of stump wood is estimated to be around half a million cubic metres per year from the Notecka Forest area alone. This resource provides an opportunity for business development in both forestry and the renewable energy sources (RESs) sector, despite the barriers and risks shown in this study. Full article

Driverless electric formula racing cars are affected by nonlinear vehicle characteristics, perturbations, and parameter uncertainties during races, which can cause problems such as low accuracy and instability in trajectory tracking. Aiming to address such problems, this paper proposes a control method combining a prescribed performance control with adaptive backstepping fuzzy control (PPC-ABFC) to solve the aforementioned issues and improve the trajectory tracking accuracy and stability of racing cars. This control method is achieved by constructing a combined error model and confining the error within a prescribed performance function. The nonlinear terms, disturbances, and unknown parameters of the model are approximated by a fuzzy logic system (FLS). An adaptive parameter update law is designed to update the learning parameters in real time. The virtual control law and the real control law were designed by using the backstepping method. The stability of the PPC-ABFC closed-loop system was rigorously proved by applying the Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, simulations were conducted to compare the proposed PPC-ABFC method with other algorithms at different speeds. The results demonstrated that the PPC-ABFC method effectively enhances the trajectory tracking performance of driverless electric formula racing cars. Full article

The design and optimization of drive distribution strategies are critical for enhancing the performance of Formula Student electric racing cars, which face demanding operational conditions such as rapid acceleration, tight cornering, and variable track surfaces. Given the increasing complexity of racing environments and the need for adaptive control solutions, a multi-mode adaptive drive distribution strategy for four-wheel-drive Formula Student electric racing cars is proposed in this study to meet specialized operational demands. Based on the dynamic characteristics of standardized test scenarios (e.g., straight-line acceleration and figure-eight loop), two control modes are designed: slip-ratio-based anti-slip control for longitudinal dynamics and direct yaw moment control for lateral stability. A CarSim–Simulink co-simulation platform is established, with test scenarios conforming to competition standards, including variable road adhesion coefficients (μ is 0.3–0.9) and composite curves. Simulation results indicate that, compared to conventional PID control, the proposed strategy reduces the peak slip ratio to the optimal range of 18% during acceleration and enhances lateral stability in the figure-eight loop, maintaining the sideslip angle around −0.3°. These findings demonstrate the potential for significant improvements in both performance and safety, offering a scalable framework for future developments in racing vehicle control systems. The simulation analysis of a novel stay-in-place formwork (SIPF) beam reinforced with perforated steel pipe skeleton was conducted. The SIPF beam consists of a modified magnesium oxysulfide mortar (MMOM) formwork, a square steel pipe skeleton with holes dug on the sides and top, and cast-in-place concrete. The finite element (FE) analysis model of the SIPF beam was established by using the ABAQUS CAE 2021 software, and simulation analysis was conducted with the shear span ratio (SSR), the distance between the remaining steel strips, and the strength of concrete as the variation parameters. The results show that the stiffness and shear capacity of the SIPF beam decrease with the increase in SSR and increase with the decrease in strip spacing. Under the same conditions, when the concrete strength grade is increased from C30 to C50, the shear bearing capacity of the SIPF beam increases by 11.8% to 16.2%. When the spacing of the steel strips is reduced from 200 mm to 150 mm, the shear bearing capacity can be increased by 12.7% to 31.5%. When the SSR increases from 1.5 to 3.0, the shear bearing capacity decreases by 26.9% to 37.3%. Moreover, with the increase in the SSR, the influence of the steel strip spacing on the shear bearing capacity of the SIPF beam improves, while the influence of the concrete strength on the shear bearing capacity decreases. Taking parameters such as SSR, steel strip spacing, and concrete strength as variables, the influence of steel pipe constraining the core concrete on the shear bearing capacity was considered. The calculation formula for the shear bearing capacity of the SIPF beam with perforated steel pipe skeleton was established. The calculation results fit well with the laboratory test and simulation test results and can be used for the design and calculation of engineering structures. Full article

Geogrids are frequently utilized in engineering for reinforcement; yet, they are vulnerable to construction damage when employed on coarse-grained soil subgrades. In contrast, waste tire grids are more appropriate for subgrade reinforcement owing to their rough surfaces, integrated steel meshes, robust transverse ribs, extended degradation cycles, and superior durability. Based on the limit equilibrium theory, this study developed formulae for calculating the internal and external frictional resistance, as well as the end resistance of waste tires, to ascertain the interface bearing properties and calculation techniques of waste tire grids. Based on this, a mechanical model for the ultimate pull-out resistance of waste-tire-reinforced soil was developed, and its validity was confirmed through a series of pull-out tests on single-sided strips, double-sided strips, and tire grids. The results indicated that the tensile strength of one side of the strip was approximately 43% of that of both sides, and the rough outer surface of the tire significantly enhanced the tensile performance of the strip; under identical normal stress, the tensile strength of the single-sided tire grid was roughly nine times and four times greater than that of the single-sided and double-sided strips, respectively, and the grid structure exhibited superior anti-deformation capabilities compared to the strip structure. The average discrepancy between the calculated values of the established model and the theoretical values was merely 2.38% (maximum error < 5%). Overall, this research offers technical assistance for ensuring the safety of subgrade design and promoting environmental sustainability in engineering, enabling the effective utilization of waste tire grids in sustainable reinforcement applications. This study aims to develop a method for analyzing real-world battery degradation in electric vehicles in order to identify the optimal battery management system (BMS) during the early digital phase of vehicle development. Battery management of lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) in electric vehicles is important to ensure a stable output and to counteract degradation and thermal runaway. To design the optimal system, it is most effective to use a 1D (one-dimensional) vehicle system simulation model, which connects each unit model inside the vehicle, due to the system’s complexity. In order to create a long-term degradation simulation in a vehicle system model, it is important to reduce computational load. Therefore, in this paper, we studied a suitable battery degradation calculation for the vehicle system model based on an equivalent circuit model (ECM) and degradation approximation formulas. After implementing these models, we analyzed long-term degradation behavior through the real-world operation of an electric vehicle driver. We first implemented a high-accuracy ECM using transient charge–discharge tests and Bayesian Optimization. Next, we formulated approximation formulas for degradation prediction based on calendar and cycle degradation tests. Finally, we simulated real-world degradation behavior using these models. The simulation results revealed that even for users who frequently use electric vehicles, degradation under storage conditions is the dominant factor in overall degradation. Full article

This review explores the potential of magistral formulas (MFs) as a viable option to meet the needs of neonates, given the lack of adequate therapies for this vulnerable group. The scientific literature on medicines available for neonates is limited. The physiological differences between neonates and adults make it difficult to formulate these medicines. In addition, there are a variety of difficulties in conducting research on neonates: few clinical trials are performed, and there is frequent use of unauthorized medicines. Pharmacokinetics in neonates was investigated in comparison to adults, and different aspects of the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion were observed. One of the main problems is the different pharmacokinetics between the two populations. It is necessary to promote and allow research related to pediatric drug design, approve a specific authorization for use in age-appropriate dosage forms, and improve the quality and availability of information on drugs. This study focused on the MFs typically used for pediatrics, specifically for neonates, analyzing the pharmaceutical forms currently available and the presence of indications and dosage recommendations of the European Medicines Agency. Medications were classified according to therapeutic group, as antihypertensives, corticosteroids, and antiepileptics. The use of off-label medicines remains high in neonatal intensive care units and in primary healthcare, besides in the preparation of MFs by pharmacists. This study addresses the limitations of conventional filtering methods in handling irregular outliers and missing observations, which can compromise filter robustness and accuracy. We propose the Transformer-based Outlier-Robust Kalman Filter (TORKF), a hybrid data and knowledge hybrid-driven framework for stochastic discrete-time systems. Initially, this study derives the filtering formulas applicable when outliers exist in observation vectors and, based on these formulations, proposes a novel method capable of accurately identifying observation vectors containing outliers. In addition, a transformer-based prediction compensation approach is employed to compute the prediction vector compensation value in scenarios involving outliers. This method utilizes a specially designed data structure to ensure the transformer encoder fully extracts the input features. Furthermore, to address outlier-induced inaccuracy in prediction error covariance, a compensation method aggregating all prediction outcomes is proposed, leading to enhanced filtering accuracy. Aircraft tracking presents challenges from complex motion models and outlier-prone observations, making it an ideal testbed for robust filtering algorithms. TORKF demonstrates superior performance, with a 12.7% lower RMSE than state-of-the-art methods across both propeller and jet datasets, while maintaining sub-90 ms single-frame processing to meet real-time requirements. Ablation studies confirm that all three proposed methods enhance accuracy and demonstrate synergistic improvements. Full article

Research on ecosystem carbon sequestration services and ecological compensation is crucial for advancing carbon neutrality. As a public good, ecosystem carbon sequestration services inherently lead to externalities. Therefore, it is essential to consider externalities in the flow of sequestration services. However, few studies have examined intra- and inter-regional ecosystem carbon sequestration flows, making regional ecosystem carbon sequestration flows less comprehensive. Against this background, the research objectives of this paper are as follows. The flow of carbon sequestration services between Henan Province and out-of-province regions is studied. In addition, this study clarifies the beneficiary and supply areas of carbon sink services in Henan Province and the neighboring regions at the prefecture-level city scale to obtain a more systematic, comprehensive, and actual flow of carbon sequestration services for scientific and effective eco-compensation and to promote regional synergistic emission reductions. The research methodologies used in this paper are as follows. First, this study adopts a meta-coupling framework, designating Henan Province as the focal system, the Central Urban Agglomeration as the adjacent system, and eight surrounding provinces as remote systems. Regional carbon sequestration was assessed using net primary productivity (NEP), while carbon emissions were evaluated based on per capita carbon emissions and population density. A carbon balance analysis integrated carbon sequestration and emissions. Hotspot analysis identified areas of carbon sequestration service supply and associated benefits. Ecological radiation force formulas were used to quantify service flows, and compensation values were estimated considering the government’s payment capacity and willingness. A three-dimensional evaluation system—incorporating technology, talent, and fiscal capacity—was developed to propose a diversified ecological compensation scheme by comparing supply and beneficiary areas. By modeling the ecosystem carbon sequestration service flow, the main results of this paper are as follows: (1) Within Henan Province, Luoyang and Nanyang provided 521,300 tons and 515,600 tons of carbon sinks to eight cities (e.g., Jiaozuo, Zhengzhou, and Kaifeng), warranting an ecological compensation of CNY 262.817 million and CNY 263.259 million, respectively. (2) Henan exported 3.0739 million tons of carbon sinks to external provinces, corresponding to a compensation value of CNY 1756.079 million. Conversely, regions such as Changzhi, Xiangyang, and Jinzhong contributed 657,200 tons of carbon sinks to Henan, requiring a compensation of CNY 189.921 million. (3) Henan thus achieved a net ecological compensation of CNY 1566.158 million through carbon sink flows. (4) In addition to monetary compensation, beneficiary areas may also contribute through technology transfer, financial investment, and talent support. The findings support the following conclusions: (1) it is necessary to consider the externalities of ecosystem services, and (2) the meta-coupling framework enables a comprehensive assessment of carbon sequestration service flows, providing actionable insights for improving ecosystem governance in Henan Province and comparable regions.
