The fiberboard industry remains heavily reliant on synthetic, formaldehyde-based adhesives, which, despite their cost-effectiveness and strong bonding performance, present significant environmental and human health concerns due to volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. In response to growing sustainability imperatives and regulatory pressures, the development of non-toxic, renewable, and high-performance bio-based adhesives has emerged as a critical research frontier. This review, conducted through both narrative and systematic approaches, synthesizes current advances in green adhesive technologies with emphasis on lignin, tannin, starch, protein, and hybrid formulations, alongside innovative synthetic alternatives designed to eliminate formaldehyde. The Evidence for Policy and Practice Information and Coordinating Centre (EPPI) framework was applied to ensure a rigorous, transparent, and reproducible methodology, encompassing the identification of research questions, systematic searching, keywording, mapping, data extraction, and in-depth analysis. Results reveal that while bio-based adhesives are increasingly capable of approaching or matching the mechanical strength and durability of urea–formaldehyde adhesives, challenges persist in terms of water resistance, scalability, cost, and process compatibility. Hybrid systems and novel crosslinking strategies demonstrate particular promise in overcoming these limitations, paving the way toward industrial viability. The review also identifies critical research gaps, including the need for standardized testing protocols, techno-economic analysis, and life cycle assessment to ensure the sustainable implementation of these solutions. By integrating environmental, economic, and technological perspectives, this work highlights the transformative potential of green adhesives in transitioning the fiberboard sector toward a low-toxicity, carbon-conscious future. It provides a roadmap for research, policy, and industrial innovation. Full article

Background/Objectives: Family members are the principal providers of home-based care for migrant older adults. Linguistic, cultural, and structural barriers within health systems exacerbate the caregiver burden across emotional, physical and financial domains. Although home healthcare services may alleviate this burden, variability in access, cultural safety, and care coordination can also intensify it. This scoping review maps the evidence on the burden experienced by family caregivers who deliver home-based healthcare to migrant older adults and examines how these arrangements affect caregivers’ health and well-being. It synthesizes the literature on facilitators and barriers—including access, cultural-linguistic fit, coordination with formal services, and legal/immigration constraints—and distills implications for policy and practice to strengthen equitable, culturally responsive home care. Method: The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) scoping review framework was used to conduct the review. A comprehensive search was performed across six databases (CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, PsycINFO, MEDLINE and Sociological Abstracts) for articles published between 2000 and 2025. Studies were selected based on predefined inclusion criteria focusing on the family caregiver burden in providing home healthcare for migrant older adults. Data extraction and thematic analysis were conducted to identify key themes. Results: The review identified 20 studies across various geographical regions, highlighting four key themes: (1) Multidimensional Caregiver Burden, (2) The Influence of Gender, Family Hierarchy, and Migratory Trajectories on Caregiving, (3) Limited Access to Formal and Culturally Appropriate Support, and (4) Health Outcomes, Coping, and the Need for Community-Based Solutions. Conclusions: System-level reforms are required to advance equity in home healthcare for aging migrants. Priorities include establishing accountable cultural-safety training for providers; expanding multilingual access across intake, assessment, and follow-up; and formally recognizing and resourcing family caregivers (e.g., navigation support, respite, training, and financial relief). Investment in community-driven programs, frameworks and targeted outreach—co-designed with migrant communities—can mitigate isolation and improve uptake. While home healthcare is pivotal, structural inequities and cultural barriers continue to constrain equitable access. Addressing these gaps demands coordinated policy action, enhanced provider preparation, and culturally responsive care models. Future research should evaluate innovative frameworks that integrate community partnerships and culturally responsive practices to reduce the caregiver burden and improve outcomes for migrant families. The Dal Lake ecosystem is a vital freshwater body situated in the heart of Srinagar, Kashmir, India. It is not only a natural asset but also a cornerstone of environmental health, economic vitality, cultural heritage, and urban sustainability. In the last few decades, the condition of the lake ecosystem and water quality has deteriorated significantly owing to the intensification of the eutrophication process. Effective integrated management of the lake is crucial for the long-term sustainable development of the region and the communities that rely on it for their livelihoods. The main reasons for eutrophication are the substantial quantity of anthropogenic pollution, especially nutrients, discharged from the catchment area of the lake and the overexploitation of the lake space and its biological resources. The research presented in this paper aimed to diagnose the state of the lake by analysing trends in eutrophication development and its long-term changes related to the catchment area and lake ecosystem relationships. The research period was 25 years, from 1997 to 2023. Land use and land cover data and water quality monitoring data, which are the basis for trophic state assessment, allowed us to analyze the long-term dynamics of eutrophication in the reservoir. For these purposes, GIS-generated thematic maps were created by using QGIS software version 3.44.1, and an appropriate methodology for quantifying eutrophication was chosen and adapted to the specifics of Dal Lake. The obtained results provide a foundation for a eutrophication management strategy that considers the specificity of the Dal Lake ecosystem and the impact of the catchment area. The outcomes highlighted the varied trophic conditions in different lake basins and the dominance of eutrophic conditions during the study period. The research highlights the complexity of the problem and underscores the need for a comprehensive lake management system. Full article

Background: Emerging evidence suggests that lipedema may share hormonal, inflammatory, and genetic mechanisms with gynecologic diseases, particularly endometriosis. However, the extent and nature of these interrelationships remain poorly characterized, supporting the need for this scoping review. Objectives: To map and synthesize the available evidence on the clinical, pathophysiological, and epidemiological interrelationships between lipedema in women, endometriosis, and other gynecologic diseases. Methods: Searches were conducted in international and regional health databases, including MEDLINE (PubMed), CINAHL, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, LILACS/VHL, APA PsycInfo, SciELO, Epistemonikos, and La Referencia, as well as grey literature sources and relevant institutional websites. There were no language restrictions. The search period began in 1940, the year in which lipedema was first described by Allen and Hines. Study selection followed a two-stage process conducted independently by two reviewers, consisting of title and abstract screening followed by full-text review. Data extraction was performed using a pre-developed and peer-reviewed instrument covering participants, concept, context, study methods, and main findings. The review protocol was registered in the Open Science Framework. Results: Twenty-five studies from ten countries were included. Synthesized evidence supports the characterization of lipedema as a systemic condition with metabolic and hormonal dimensions. Key findings include symptom onset linked to reproductive milestones, a high frequency of gynecologic and endocrine comorbidities, and molecular features overlapping with steroid-dependent pathologies. These patterns reflect a recent shift from a predominantly lymphovascular paradigm toward a more integrated endocrinometabolic framework. Conclusions: The findings indicate that lipedema clusters with hormone-sensitive gynecologic and endocrine features across reproductive life stages. Full article

Objectives: Telemedicine has rapidly expanded in oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS), especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, but its specific roles and limitations across the care pathway remain unclear. This narrative review aimed to map telemedicine modalities and indications in OMFS, summarize reported outcomes, and identify priorities for future research. Methods: A narrative synthesis was undertaken after a systematic search of medical and engineering databases to 10 October 2025. Studies applying telemedicine, telehealth, telepresence or teleradiology to OMFS practice were eligible, including trials, observational cohorts, technical reports and surveys. Data were extracted in duplicate and organized thematically; heterogeneity precluded meta-analysis. Results: Fifty studies met the inclusion criteria. Telemedicine was mainly used for preoperative consultation and triage, postoperative follow-up, trauma teleradiology and tele-expertise, oncologic and oral medicine follow-up, temporomandibular disorders, and education or humanitarian work. In low-risk outpatient and postoperative settings, remote consultations showed high concordance with in-person plans, similar complication or reattendance rates, reduced travel, and high satisfaction. In trauma networks, telemedicine supported timely triage and reduced unnecessary inter-hospital transfers. Evidence in oral oncology and complex mucosal disease was more cautious, favouring hybrid models and escalation to face-to-face assessment. Data on cost-effectiveness and impacts on equity were limited. Conclusions: Telemedicine in OMFS has moved from niche innovation to a pragmatic adjunct across the clinical pathway. Current evidence supports its use for selected pre- and postoperative care and trauma triage within risk-stratified hybrid models, while underscoring the need for stronger comparative and implementation studies, clear governance on equity and data protection, and alignment with wider digital and AI-enabled health systems. Children with special health care needs require health and related services beyond those required by children in general, which may affect their participation and inclusion in school. School nurses play a key role in supporting these children through a range of health-related interventions within the school setting. However, evidence on school nurse–led interventions for this population remains fragmented. This scoping review will follow the JBI methodology and aims to map the nature and extent of interventions developed by school nurses for children with special health care needs in school settings worldwide. The review will provide an overview of current practices and may inform the development of school health policies and evidence-informed nursing interventions. This research is registered on the Open Science Framework platform since 10 June 2024, with data updated on 26 August 2025. Full article

Background: Therapeutic applications of saline solutions in oral healthcare range from mineral waters to standardized sodium chloride preparations. Despite widespread traditional use, their scientific foundation remains inadequately characterized. This scoping review aimed to systematically map the available evidence for salt-based oral health interventions, characterize study populations and outcomes, and identify research gaps to guide future investigations. Methods: Following JBI methodology and PRISMA-ScR guidelines, four electronic databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library) were systematically searched for publications from 2000 to 2025. Studies were classified along a spectrum from geological mineral waters to artificial preparations. Narrative synthesis was employed with systematic gap identification. Results: Seventeen studies met inclusion criteria, with a median sample size of 41 participants and a median follow-up of 4 weeks. Evidence distribution revealed concentration on hypersaline Dead Sea derivatives (n = 7, 41%) and European thermal waters (n = 5, 29%), with limited representation of marine-derived (n = 1, 6%) and simple saline solutions (n = 3, 18%). Reported outcomes included periodontal parameters, xerostomia symptoms, viral load, mucositis severity, and dentin hypersensitivity, with variable methodological quality across studies. Heterogeneity in interventions, comparators, and outcome measures precluded direct comparisons. Conclusions: The current evidence base for salt-based oral interventions remains limited and methodologically heterogeneous. While preliminary findings suggest potential applications across multiple clinical domains, small sample sizes, short follow-up periods, and inconsistent outcome measures preclude definitive recommendations. Standardized protocols and adequately powered trials are needed before evidence-based clinical integration. Full article

Background: Driven by rapid urbanization, infrastructural development, socio-economic growth, and population increase, noise pollution has become a major public health and environmental policy challenge in Moroccan cities. However, current legislation and enforcement mechanisms remain insufficient to address rising exposure levels and associated health risks. Methods: This systematic review followed PRISMA guidelines to examine urban noise levels, health implications, the regulatory frameworks, and policy actions related to noise pollution in Morocco. Various databases were systematically searched (Scopus, Web of Science, Google Scholar), along with reports from international organizations and government bodies for studies published between 2003 and 2025. Eligible documents included peer-reviewed publications and official reports directly addressing Moroccan noise pollution, legislation, urban impacts, or health outcomes. Results: Twenty-three Moroccan studies and additional regional, European, and legislative sources were included. Findings show that average noise levels in Moroccan urban centers generally exceed international safety thresholds and are associated with cardiovascular risks, sleep disturbances, and psychological stress. The regulatory framework suffers from weak enforcement, limited monitoring protocols, and an absence of noise mapping. Tangier, Béni Mellal, Témara, Marrakech, and Casablanca exhibit significant environmental inequalities, particularly in low-income districts. Conclusions: Morocco’s current noise-management system is inadequate to address the growing health and environmental impacts of urban noise. Urgent actions are needed, including a dedicated noise-control law, systematic monitoring, noise mapping, and integration of public-health considerations into environmental governance. Policy reforms must prioritize vulnerable populations and align with international best practices. Full article

Influenza A viruses remain a persistent global health challenge due to their rapid antigenic evolution, zoonotic potential, and pandemic threat. Universal countermeasures targeting conserved viral components are urgently needed to enhance diagnostic, surveillance, and therapeutic capabilities. Here, we report the generation and characterization of a high-affinity monoclonal antibody (2D8 mAb) against the nucleoprotein (NP) of the H9N2 avian influenza virus, a subtype with increasing relevance to human infections. Importantly, 2D8 mAb exhibited robust cross-reactivity with a broad spectrum of influenza A viruses, including H1, H3, H5, H7, and H9 subtypes, while showing no cross-reactivity with unrelated viral pathogens. Epitope mapping identified its binding target as a highly conserved NP motif 38RFYIQMCTEL47, which is invariant across all major human influenza A lineages. Isotyping revealed 2D8 mAb to be of the IgG2b/κ subclass, with an exceptionally high titer (1:20,480,000) as determined by ELISA. Given the essential role of NP in viral replication and host adaptation, this antibody offers a powerful platform for next-generation diagnostic assays capable of detecting a wide range of human and zoonotic influenza A viruses using a single reagent. Moreover, it holds potential for guiding the design of universal antiviral strategies targeting structurally constrained regions of the influenza virus. Our findings provide a valuable resource for advancing pan-influenza A interventions, with direct implications for improving pandemic preparedness and strengthening global influenza surveillance in both clinical and public health settings. Aflatoxin M1 (AFM1), a hydroxylated metabolite of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), is a potent hepatotoxic and carcinogenic compound frequently detected in milk and dairy products. Its thermal stability and resistance to processing make it a persistent public health concern, especially in regions prone to fungal contamination of animal feed. This review integrates bibliometric mapping (2015–2025) with toxicological and mitigation perspectives to provide a comprehensive understanding of AFM1. The bibliometric analysis reveals a sharp global rise in research output over the last decade, with Iran, China, and Brazil emerging as leading contributors and Food Control identified as the most prolific journal. Five research clusters were distinguished: feed contamination pathways, analytical detection, toxicological risk, regulatory frameworks, and mitigation strategies. Toxicological evidence highlights AFM1’s mutagenic and hepatocarcinogenic effects, intensified by co-exposure to other mycotoxins or hepatitis B infection. Although regulatory limits range from 0.025 µg/kg in infant formula (EU) to 0.5 µg/kg in milk (FDA), non-compliance remains prevalent in developing regions. Current mitigation approaches—adsorbents (bentonite, zeolite), oxidation (ozone, hydrogen peroxide), and biological detoxification via lactic acid bacteria and yeasts—show promise but require optimization for industrial application. Persistent challenges include climatic variability, inadequate feed monitoring, and heterogeneous regulations. This review emphasizes the need for harmonized surveillance, improved analytical capacity, and sustainable intervention strategies to ensure dairy safety and protect consumer health. Full article

The theoretical basis of the technique is discussed, including ionization mechanisms, matrix selection and mass analyzer configurations, and the influence of experimental parameters on spectral quality. The specificity of sterol and TAG ionization, challenges associated with ion suppression, and strategies for improving detection sensitivity and selectivity are discussed. Particular attention is paid to molecular imaging (MALDI-MSI), which enables spatial mapping of lipids in tissues and is of increasing importance in neurobiological, oncological, and metabolic research. The review highlights the advantages of MALDI for rapid lipid profiling and tissue analysis, while also pointing out technical limitations (e.g., difficulties in detecting sterols, matrix interference, limited quantification) and the need for method standardization. MALDI-MS appears to be a complementary technique to LC–MS/ESI-MS and DESI-MS, with great translational potential, particularly in the context of diagnostics, biomarker studies, and in situ lipid imaging. Natamycin, a polyene macrolide antifungal, has long been used as a food preservative and is the only Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved topical treatment for fungal keratitis. While its safety is supported by specific ergosterol interaction and minimal systemic absorption, current research mainly focuses on short-term effects, often overlooking long-term, developmental, and microbiome-related impacts. In food applications, questions remain about cumulative exposure and potential disruptions to gut microbiota. For ophthalmology, advanced delivery methods like nanocarriers and hydrogels enhance drug penetration but may alter pharmacokinetics and pose formulation challenges. Regulatory approvals have historically depended on established safe use and limited toxicological data, emphasizing the need for more systematic evaluations. Zebrafish (Danio rerio) represent a promising yet underutilized model for addressing significant gaps in research, particularly in the realms of microbiome studies, ocular health, developmental processes, and multigenerational effects. When paired with omics technologies, zebrafish facilitate comprehensive system-level mapping of drug-induced outcomes. This review consolidates existing evidence and positions zebrafish as a vital translational link between in vitro assays, mammalian models, and clinical practice. Climate action has been deemed as fundamental to counteract the impacts of rising global temperatures on health which will disproportionately affect low-income populations, racial and ethnic minorities, women, and other historically marginalized groups. Along with poverty reduction, inequality mitigation, gender equality promotion, and public health protection, climate action has been recognized as a fundamental goal for achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, despite growing recognition of the need to align climate action with development goals, there is a knowledge gap regarding how the implementation of climate change mitigation and adaptation policies impacts social inequalities. To address this knowledge gap, this document proposes a scoping review protocol aimed at identifying and synthesizing research that examines the impacts of climate policies on inequalities at the subnational scales, within the transport, infrastructure and health. The objective of this review is to map existing evidence, identify conceptual and empirical gaps and inform policy strategies that promote climate action in line with values of social justice and equality. Background: Due to the lack of curative treatments for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), patients need lifelong follow-up care. Telehealth offers a valuable solution to balance routine visits with necessary monitoring. Objectives: To map what is known about the benefits and barriers encountered by nurses in their use of telehealth for the follow-up care of patients with IBD. Methods: Following the methodology from the Joanna Briggs Institute, we conducted a scoping review across four electronic databases from June 2024 to September 2025. Key search terms included “inflammatory bowel disease,” “nurse experience,” and “telehealth.” A content analysis was employed to summarize the key findings. Results: We screened 1551 records, ultimately including four original research articles from four countries. Benefits identified were as follows: (1) the vital contributions of IBD telenursing in empowering patients by bridging health literacy and self-care skills; (2) optimal use of staffing time supports patient-centred care; and (3) ease of use. Barriers included the following: (1) increased workload and task imbalances; (2) the need for customized interventions; (3) technical issues and concerns regarding the security of digital systems; (4) telehealth as a supplementary option or a standard procedure; and (5) concerns related to the patient–nurse relationship. Conclusions: Nurses view telehealth as a promising approach that enhances patients’ health literacy and self-care skills and improves patient outcomes through effective monitoring. To fully realize telehealth’s potential, implementing strategies like triage protocols, algorithmic alerts, electronic health record integration, and comprehensive nurse training to enhance patient care and engagement may be beneficial. This scoping review highlights the need for more research on nurses’ experiences with telehealth in IBD due to limited publications. Full article

This study presents an in-depth exploration of an innovative monitoring system that contributes to precision agriculture (PA) and supports sustainability and biodiversity. Amidst the challenges of global population growth and the need for sustainable, high-yield agricultural practices, PA, supported by modern technology and data-driven methodologies, emerges as a pivotal approach for optimizing crop yield and resource management. The proposed monitoring system integrates Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) into PA, enabling real-time acquisition of environmental data and multimodal observations through cameras and microphones, with data transmission via LTE and/or LoRaWAN for cloud-based analysis. Its main contribution is a physically modular, pole-mounted station architecture that simplifies sensor integration and reconfiguration across use cases, while remaining solar-powered for long-term off-grid operation. The system was evaluated in two field deployments, including a year-long wild-flora monitoring campaign (three stations; 365 days; 1870 images; 63–100% image-based operational availability), during which stations remained operational through a wildfire event. In the viticulture deployment, the acoustic module supported bat monitoring as a bio-indicator of ecosystem health, achieving bat call detection performance of 0.94 (AP Det) and species classification performance of 0.85 (mAP Class). Overall, the results support the use of modular, energy-aware monitoring stations to perform sustained agricultural and ecological data collection under practical field constraints. Full article
