Humidity and oxygen have significant impacts on the accuracy of hydrogen detection, especially for metal oxide semiconductor sensors at room temperature. Addressing this challenge, this study employs a screen-printed 1 × 2 resistive sensor array made from an identical 1 wt.% platinum-modified tin oxide nanoparticle material. Fabrication variability between the two sensing elements was intentionally leveraged to enhance array output differentiation and information content. Systematic hydrogen-sensing tests were conducted on the array under diverse oxygen and moisture conditions. Three distinct feature types—the steady-state value, resistance change, and area under the curve—were extracted from the output of each array element. These features, integrated with their quotient, formed a nine-feature vector matrix. A multiple linear regression model based on this array output was developed and validated for hydrogen prediction, achieving a coefficient of determination of 0.95, a mean absolute error of 125 ppm, and a mean relative standard deviation of 7.07%. The combined information of the array provided significantly more stable and precise hydrogen concentration predictions than linear or nonlinear models based on individual sensor features. This approach offers a promising path for mass-producing highly interference-resistant, precise, and stable room-temperature hydrogen sensor arrays. Full article

Background: Varicella remains a prevalent vaccine-preventable disease, but breakthrough infections are increasingly reported. However, long-term, population-based studies investigating the temporal and demographic characteristics of breakthrough varicella remain limited. Methods: This retrospective study analyzed surveillance data from Jinhua City, China, from 2016 to 2024. Varicella case records were obtained from the China Information System for Disease Control and Prevention (CISDCP), while vaccination data were retrieved from the Zhejiang Provincial Immunization Program Information System (ISIS). Breakthrough cases were defined as infections occurring more than 42 days after administration of the varicella vaccine. Differences in breakthrough interval were analyzed across subgroups defined by dose, sex, age, population category, and vaccination type. A bivariate cubic regression model was used to assess the combined effect of initial vaccination age and dose interval on the breakthrough interval. Results: Among 28,778 reported varicella cases, 7373 (25.62%) were classified as breakthrough infections, with a significant upward trend over the 9-year period (p < 0.001). Most cases occurred in school-aged children, especially those aged 6–15 years. One-dose recipients consistently showed shorter breakthrough intervals than two-dose recipients (M = 62.10 vs. 120.10 months, p < 0.001). Breakthrough intervals also differed significantly by sex, age group, population category, and vaccination type (p < 0.05). Regression analysis revealed a negative correlation between the initial vaccination age, the dose interval, and the breakthrough interval (R2 = 0.964, p < 0.001), with earlier and closely spaced vaccinations associated with longer protection. Conclusions: The present study demonstrates that a two-dose varicella vaccination schedule, when initiated at an earlier age and administered with a shorter interval between doses, provides more robust and longer-lasting protection. These results offer strong support for incorporating varicella vaccination into China’s National Immunization Program to enhance vaccine coverage and reduce the public health burden associated with breakthrough infections. Group A rotavirus (RVA) is a leading causative agent of diarrhea in both young animals and humans. In China, multiple genotypes are commonly found within the bovine population. In this study, we investigated 1917 fecal samples from calves with diarrhea between 2022 and 2025, with 695 testing positive for RVA, yielding an overall detection rate of 36.25%. The highest positivity rate was observed in Hohhot (38.98%), and annual detection rates ranged from 26.75% in 2022 to 42.22% in 2025. A bovine rotavirus (BRV) strain, designated 0205HG, was successfully isolated from a fecal sample of a newborn calf. Its presence was confirmed through cytopathic effects (CPEs), the indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA), electron microscopy (EM), and high-throughput sequencing. Genomic characterization identified the strain as having the G6-P[1]-I2-R2-C2-M2-A3-N2-T6-E2-H3 genotype constellation. The structural proteins VP2 and VP7, along with nonstructural genes NSP1–NSP4, shared high sequence identity with Chinese bovine strains, whereas VP1, VP4, and NSP5 clustered more closely with human rotaviruses, and VP3 was related to feline strains. These findings highlight the genetic diversity and interspecies reassortment of BRVs in China, underlining the importance of continued surveillance and evolutionary analysis. Full article

Planting patterns and irrigation amounts are key factors affecting maize yield. This study adopted a two-factor experimental design, with planting pattern as the main plot and irrigation amount as the subplot, to investigate the effects of irrigation levels under different planting patterns (including uniform row spacing and alternating wide-narrow row spacing) on spring maize yield and water use efficiency in Xinjiang. Through this approach, the study examined the mechanisms by which planting pattern and irrigation amount influence maize growth, yield formation, and water use efficiency. Experiments conducted at the Agricultural Science Research Institute of the Ninth Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps demonstrated that alternating wide-narrow row spacing combined with moderate irrigation (5400 m3/hm2) significantly optimized maize root distribution, improved water use efficiency, and increased leaf area index and net photosynthetic rate, thereby promoting dry matter accumulation and yield enhancement. In contrast, uniform row spacing under high irrigation levels increased yield but resulted in lower water use efficiency. The study also found that alternating wide-narrow row spacing enhanced maize nutrient absorption from the soil, particularly phosphorus utilization efficiency, by improving canopy structure and root expansion. This pattern exhibited comprehensive advantages in resource utilization, providing a theoretical basis and technical pathway for achieving water-saving and high-yield maize production in arid regions, which holds significant importance for promoting sustainable agricultural development. During pregnancy, the regulation of autophagy and ferroptosis dynamically supports placental development and fetal health. Both processes—autophagy, clearing damaged organelles to maintain placental function, and ferroptosis, driven by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation—are involved in pathological conditions such as preeclampsia. Emerging evidence suggests that gut microbiota-derived metabolites act as key regulators of this balance, yet their specific roles across different trimesters remain unclear. This review compiles evidence on how gut microbiota metabolites, like short-chain fatty acids and trimethylamine N-oxide, serve as trimester-specific modulators of the autophagy–ferroptosis balance during pregnancy. We explain how these metabolites influence pregnancy outcomes by regulating placental autophagy and ferroptosis. Furthermore, we explore potential diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for pregnancy complications, focusing on metabolite-based biomarkers and interventions that target microbial–metabolic interactions. Arthrobotrys flagrans is a typical nematode-trapping fungus that captures nematodes by producing three-dimensional networks. FlbD is a DNA-binding protein containing a Myb domain, which plays a significant role in fungal development. However, the biological function of FlbD in nematode-trapping fungi remains unknown. In this study, we analyzed the physicochemical properties and conserved domains of AfFlbD and constructed the AfFlbD knockout strains (ΔAfFlbD) using homologous recombination. Our functional analysis revealed that the mutants produced more cottony aerial mycelia at the colony center. Additionally, the cell length of the mutants was reduced, indicating that AfFlbD regulates cell morphology in A. flagrans. Chemical stress tolerance assays of the mutants demonstrated reduced sensitivity to NaCl and sorbitol stresses but increased sensitivity to SDS and H2O2 stresses compared to the WT strain. Interestingly, the mutants spontaneously produced traps, and its pathogenicity to nematodes was significantly enhanced, suggesting that AfFlbD negatively regulates the pathogenicity of A. flagrans. Furthermore, the number of chlamydospores produced by the mutants was markedly reduced, though their morphology remained unchanged. Fluorescence localization analysis showed that AfFlbD localizes to the nuclei of chlamydospores, thereby regulating chlamydospore formation. This study provides important theoretical insights into the biological function of the FlbD transcription factor and offers new perspectives for the application of nematode-trapping fungi as a method of controlling plant-parasitic nematodes. Phosphorus (P) release from reservoir sediments critically influences water quality and ecosystem stability. This study analyzed surface sediments from four representative zones to investigate phosphorus fraction distribution, key influencing factors, and implications for water quality. Results showed that total phosphorus (TP) content in sediments from main and tributary inflow zones was significantly higher than in open-water and transition zones. Inorganic phosphorus (IP) was the dominant form, with iron-bound phosphorus (Fe-P) accounting for 33.2–42.0% of IP. A strong correlation existed between P release and the Fe/P molar ratio; notably, when the ratio approached 10, phosphorus desorption increased significantly, indicating a shift from sink to source. Sediments with grain sizes <0.01 mm had the highest P release rates, suggesting particle size, Fe content, and hydrodynamics jointly regulate P mobilization. Using the Diffusive Gradients in Thin Films (DGT) technique, phosphorus release in inflow zones exceeded 1 g/m2 in all hydrological periods, contributing substantially to internal loading. Sediment-derived P primarily influenced bottom water, while surface water was more affected by external inputs. These findings highlight the spatial heterogeneity of P release and underscore the need for zone-specific management strategies in reservoir systems. Full article

Cobalt, a rare element in the Earth’s crust, is widely used in industries due to its hardness and antioxidant properties. It also plays a vital role in physiological functions, being a key component of vitamin B12. However, excessive cobalt intake can cause health issues. Detecting cobalt ions, especially Co2+, in food is crucial due to potential contamination from various sources. Fluorescent probes offer high sensitivity, selectivity, a rapid response, and ease of use, making them ideal for the accurate and efficient recognition of Co2+ in complex samples. In this context, a highly selective fluorescent probe, 2,2′-((3-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)-1,2-phenylene) bis(oxy)) bis(N-(quinolin-8-yl) acetamide) (DQBM-B), was synthesized using chloroacetyl chloride, 8-aminoquinoline, 2,3-dihydroxybenzaldehyde, and benzidine as raw materials for the recognition of Co2+. Probe DQBM-B can exhibit fluorescence alone in DMF. However, as the concentration of Co2+ increased, Photoinduced Electron Transfer (PET) occurred, which quenched the original fluorescence of the probe. Probe DQBM-B shows better selectivity for Co2+ than other ions with high sensitivity (detection limit: 3.56 μmol L−1), and the reaction reaches equilibrium within 30 min. Full article

Interferometric scattering microscopy (iSCAT) is widely used for label-free tracking of nanoparticles and single molecules. However, its ability to identify small molecules is limited by low imaging contrast blurred with noise. Frame-averaging methods are widely used for reducing background noise but require hundreds of frames to produce a single frame as a trade-off. To address this, we applied a spatial–frequency domain deconvolution algorithm to suppress background noise and amplify the signal for each frame, achieving an improvement of ∼ 3-fold without hardware modification. This enhancement is achieved by compensating for missing information within the optical transfer function (OTF) boundary, while high-frequency components (noise) beyond this boundary are filtered. The resulting deconvolution process provides linear signal amplification, making it ideal for quantitative analysis in mass photometry. Additionally, the localization error is reduced by 20%. Comparisons with traditional denoising algorithms revealed that these methods often extract the side lobes. In contrast, our deconvolution approach preserves signal integrity while enhancing sensitivity. This work highlights the potential of image processing techniques to significantly improve the detection sensitivity of iSCAT for small molecule analysis. Full article

RNA-binding proteins (RBPs), particularly IGF2BP3, play critical but underexplored roles in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). This study investigated IGF2BP3′s clinical and functional significance using single-cell/RNA sequencing, validated by qPCR, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry. The results show IGF2BP3 was significantly upregulated in LUAD tissues and associated with advanced-stage, larger tumors, lymph node metastasis, and poor prognosis. A prognostic nomogram confirmed its independent predictive value. Functionally, IGF2BP3 knockdown suppressed proliferation, and induced G2/M arrest and apoptosis. GSEA linked high IGF2BP3 to cell cycle activation and low expression to metabolic pathways. Notably, high IGF2BP3 correlated with immune evasion markers (downregulated CD4+ effector T cells, upregulated Th2 cells), while TIDE analysis suggested a better immunotherapy response in low-expressing patients. Drug screening identified BI-2536 as a potential therapy for low-IGF2BP3 cases, supported by strong molecular docking affinity (−7.55 kcal/mol). These findings establish IGF2BP3 as a key driver of LUAD progression and a promising target for immunotherapy and precision medicine. Full article

The shrubland ecosystems in arid areas are highly sensitive to global climate change and human activities. Accurate extraction of shrubs using computer vision techniques plays an essential role in monitoring ecological balance and desertification. However, shrub extraction from high-resolution GF-2 satellite images remains challenging due to their dense distribution and small size, along with complex background. Therefore, this study introduces a Feature Enhancement and Transformer Network (FETNet) by integrating the Feature Enhancement Module (FEM) and Transformer module (EdgeViT). Correspondently, they can strengthen both global and local features and enable accurate segmentation of small shrubs in complex backgrounds. The ablation experiments demonstrated that incorporation of FEM and EdgeViT can improve the overall segmentation accuracy, with 1.19% improvement of the Mean Intersection Over Union (MIOU). Comparison experiments show that FETNet outperforms the two leading models of FCN8s and SegNet, with the MIOU improvements of 7.2% and 0.96%, respectively. The spatial details of the extracted results indicated that FETNet is able to accurately extract dense, small shrubs while effectively suppressing interference from roads and building shadows in spatial details. The proposed FETNet enables precise shrub extraction in arid areas and can support ecological assessment and land management. Full article

In the renewable energy conversion system, water electrolysis technology is widely regarded as the core means to achieve clean hydrogen production. However, the anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) has become a key bottleneck limiting the overall water splitting efficiency due to its slow kinetic process and high overpotential. This study proposes a novel Co3O4-TiO2/CNTs p-n heterojunction catalyst, which was synthesized by hydrothermal method and significantly improved OER activity by combining heterojunction interface regulation and light field enhancement mechanism. Under illumination conditions, the catalyst achieved an overpotential of 390 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm−2, which is superior to the performance of the dark state (410 mV) and single component Co3O4-TiO2 catalysts. The material characterization results indicate that the p-n heterojunction structure effectively promotes the separation and migration of photogenerated carriers and enhances the visible light absorption capability. This work expands the design ideas of energy catalytic materials by constructing a collaborative electric light dual field regulation system, providing a new strategy for developing efficient and low-energy water splitting electrocatalysts, which is expected to play an important role in the future clean energy production and storage field. Automated cherry harvesting presents a significant opportunity to overcome the high costs and inefficiencies of manual labor in modern agriculture. However, robotic harvesting in dense canopies requires sophisticated path planning to navigate cluttered branches and selectively pick target fruits. This paper introduces a complete robotic harvesting solution centered on a novel path-planning algorithm: the Multi-Strategy Integrated RRT for Continuous Harvesting Path (MSI-RRTCHP) algorithm. Our system first employs a machine vision system to identify and locate mature cherries, distinguishing them from unripe fruits, leaves, and branches, which are treated as obstacles. Based on this visual data, the MSI-RRTCHP algorithm generates an optimal picking trajectory. Its core innovation is a synergistic strategy that enables intelligent navigation by combining probability-guided exploration, goal-oriented sampling, and adaptive step size adjustments based on the obstacle’s density. To optimize the picking sequence for multiple targets, we introduce an enhanced traversal algorithm (σ-TSP) that accounts for obstacle interference. Field experiments demonstrate that our integrated system achieved a 90% picking success rate. Compared with established algorithms, the MSI-RRTCHP algorithm reduced the path length by up to 25.47% and the planning time by up to 39.06%. This work provides a practical and efficient framework for robotic cherry harvesting, showcasing a significant step toward intelligent agricultural automation. Full article

Background/Objective: Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is a clinically significant pathogenic bacterium. Daptomycin (DAP) is a cyclic lipopeptide antibiotic used to treat infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-positive bacteria, including S. aureus. However, DAP currently faces clinical limitations due to its short half-life, toxic side effects, and increasingly severe drug resistance issues. This study aimed to develop a biomimetic nano-drug delivery system to enhance targeting ability, prolong blood circulation, and mitigate resistance of DAP. Methods: DAP-loaded chitosan nanocomposite particles (DAP-CS) were prepared by electrostatic self-assembly. Macrophage membrane vesicles (MM) were prepared by fusion of M1-type macrophage membranes with 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC). A biomimetic nano-drug delivery system (DAP-CS@MM) was constructed by the coextrusion process of DAP-CS and MM. Key physicochemical parameters, including particle diameter, zeta potential, encapsulation efficiency, and membrane protein retention, were systematically characterized. In vitro immune escape studies and in vivo zebrafish infection models were employed to assess the ability of immune escape and antibacterial performance, respectively. Results: The particle size of DAP-CS@MM was 110.9 ± 13.72 nm, with zeta potential +11.90 ± 1.90 mV, and encapsulation efficiency 70.43 ± 1.29%. DAP-CS@MM retained macrophage membrane proteins, including functional TLR2 receptors. In vitro immune escape assays, DAP-CS@MM demonstrated significantly enhanced immune escape compared with DAP-CS (p < 0.05). In the zebrafish infection model, DAP-CS@MM showed superior antibacterial efficacy over both DAP and DAP-CS (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The DAP-CS@MM biomimetic nano-drug delivery system exhibits excellent immune evasion and antibacterial performance, offering a novel strategy to overcome the clinical limitations of DAP. Background: Pulmonary fibrosis (PF), the end-stage manifestation of interstitial lung disease, is defined by excessive extracellular matrix deposition and alveolar destruction. Activated fibroblasts, the primary matrix producers, rely heavily on dysregulated glucose metabolism for their activation. While Salt Inducible Kinase 2 (SIK2) regulates glycolytic pathways in oncogenesis, its specific contributions to fibroblast activation and therapeutic potential in PF pathogenesis remain undefined. This study elucidates the functional role of SIK2 in PF and assesses its viability as a therapeutic target. Methods: SIK2 expression/localization in fibrosis was assessed by Western blot and immunofluorescence. Fibroblast-specific Sik2 KO mice evaluated effects on bleomycin-induced fibrosis. SIK2’s role in fibroblast activation and glucose metabolism impact (enzyme expression, metabolism assays, metabolites) were tested. SIK2 inhibitors were screened and evaluated therapeutically in fibrosis models. Results: It demonstrated significant SIK2 upregulation, specifically within activated fibroblasts of fibrotic lungs from both PF patients and murine models. Functional assays demonstrated that SIK2 is crucial for fibroblast activation, proliferation, and migration. Mechanistically, SIK2 enhances fibroblast glucose metabolism by increasing the expression of glycolysis-related enzymes. Additionally, this study demonstrated that the SIK2 inhibitor YKL06-061 effectively inhibited PF in both bleomycin and FITC-induced PF mouse models with the preliminary safety profile. Furthermore, we identified a novel therapeutic application for the clinically approved drug fostamatinib, demonstrating it inhibits fibroblast activation via SIK2 targeting and alleviates PF in mice. Conclusions: Our findings highlight SIK2 as a promising therapeutic target and provide compelling preclinical evidence for two distinct anti-fibrotic strategies with significant potential for future PF treatment.
