Norway’s Sikt Renews National Partnership with MDPI for 2026
We are pleased to announce the renewal of our national agreement with the Norwegian Agency for Shared Services in Education and Research (Sikt). The agreement, which will run throughout 2026, provides participating Norwegian institutions with discounts on Article Processing Charges (APCs) through MDPI's Institutional Open Access Program (IOAP).
This year, MDPI welcomes Oslo New University College to the partnership, further strengthening national collaboration and expanding support for open-access publishing across Norway's research community.
By facilitating centralized funding, MDPI’s partnership with Sikt helps institutions manage open-access investments efficiently while advancing national open-science objectives. Participating institutions will benefit from streamlined funding workflows and cost-effective open-access publishing services that support sustainable research dissemination and increasing the visibility of Norwegian scholarship.
Becky Castellon, institutional partnerships manager at MDPI, said: “We are delighted to extend our collaboration with Sikt and continue supporting the Norwegian research community. Norway has long played a leading role in advancing open science, with initiatives such as Plan S encouraging broader access to publicly funded research. Through this renewed agreement, we look forward to supporting Norwegian institutions and researchers in sharing their work openly and increasing the global visibility of their research.”
This continued partnership highlights Norway’s leadership in open science and reinforces MDPI’s engagement with the Nordic research community. Since 2020, more than 9,300 articles authored by researchers affiliated with Norwegian institutions have been published in MDPI journals, demonstrating the strong collaboration between MDPI and Norway's research community.
