Catalysts | 2024 Editorial Board Meeting of the Section “Catalytic Materials”

Catalysts (ISSN: 2073-4344) has held Editorial Board meetings since 2024. The Editorial Board meeting on 19 November 2024 for the Section “Catalytic Materials” was hosted by the Section Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Leonarda Liotta, and nine Editorial Board Members were in attendance. We are extremely grateful for the strong support from our Editorial Board Members, and we sincerely hope that more Editorial Board Members will be able to participate in future meetings. We would like to invite everyone to review the content of this meeting.

The meeting began with a presentation on the development of the journal, with a particular focus on the Section “Catalytic Materials”. The following topics were discussed:

• The journal’s history, open access policy, and author benefits;
• The Section’s publication statistics and an analysis of authors’ demographics (2020–2024);
• Journal awards, marketing activities, and social media promotions;
• An overview of the Section’s EBMs, decision-making statistics, and development statistics.

To promote the development of the Section “Catalytic Materials”, the following topics were discussed at this Editorial Board meeting:

• The members provided the valuable suggestion that Catalysts should focus on inviting researchers to publish high-quality review papers; this will also help the journal to increase its CiteScore and IF;
• The members suggested the inclusion of Catalysts in another category in Web of Science—for example, in the “Chemistry, Organic” category—because with the current IF of the journal, it may be possible to enter this category in Q1;
• Promotion plays a vital role in the development of the Section; the members suggested methods such as organizing webinars and establishing partnerships with large associations that have many members; such partnerships are expected to increase the exposure of the Section and promote wider scholarly communication.

The latest official CiteScore (2023 Scopus data) for Catalysts is 6.8, ranking 54/233 (Q1) in the “General Environmental Science” category. The current Impact Factor of Catalysts is 3.8 (2023), ranking 74/178 (Q2) in the “Chemistry, Physical” category.
