Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The Special Issue aims to bring together cutting-edge research, innovative methodologies, and case studies that address critical challenges in water resources management under climate change, aquatic ecosystem health and nature-based restoration, safe and resilient drinking water systems, sustainable wastewater management, and resource recovery. This collection seeks contributions from interdisciplinary fields, fostering a comprehensive understanding of sustainable water management practices.
This Special Issue invites contributions on water resources management. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Water Resources and Management
- Integrated water resources systems.
- Watershed modeling and sustainable allocation.
- Flood/drought forecasting and risk management.
- Urban hydrology and stormwater management.
- Monitoring, remediation, and groundwater protection.
- Water allocation, governance, and policy planning.
- Low-Carbon Water Treatment and Resource Recovery
- Source water protection and real-time monitoring.
- Emerging pollutants and drinking water safety.
- Nature-based and hybrid treatment systems.
- Nutrient (N, P) and water recovery technologies.
- Sludge valorization and circular economy.
- Energy-efficient and carbon-neutral treatment.
We welcome original research articles, reviews, and case studies addressing these critical challenges. This Special Issue aims to provide a platform for interdisciplinary research that advances the sustainable management of water resources and the environment.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Water is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
