Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Oncology is increasingly important in small-animal medicine as clinical diagnostics and therapeutic options continue to improve. An essential part of the comprehensive workup of tumor patients is the cytological and histopathological examination of preoperative biopsies (diagnosis and surgical planning) and surgical resections (diagnosis, histological grading, resection margins). Not only studies addressing standard methods in pathology but also studies addressing new techniques, such as molecular genetic methods, proteomics, spatial transcriptomics, and artificial intelligence methods, will be accepted.
Furthermore, modern therapeutic methods (advanced surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and targeted therapies) are becoming part of standard clinical practice for dogs.
Although modern methods are standard in human pathology and oncology, comparative studies in veterinary medicine remain rare—especially in cats. Thus, this Special Issue aims to fill this gap.
This Special Issue will focus on diagnostic tools, new data on the characterization of neoplasms, and new therapeutic strategies. Specifically, the clinical impact of the studies on diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis should be addressed.
