Dear Colleagues,
Symmetry and asymmetry constitute the fundamental intrinsic properties of optoelectronic materials, structures and properties. Fueled by the rapid advancement of micro–nano fabrication techniques, precision optical modulation theories and AI-enabled optoelectronic systems, a wealth of innovative designs and practical implementations rooted in symmetry/asymmetry engineering have emerged within optoelectronic devices, spanning novel optoelectronic materials, working mechanisms, device structures and application scenarios.
In recent years, a large number of studies have been dedicated to exploring the correlation between symmetric/asymmetric characteristics and the performance of optoelectronic devices. They have wide-ranging applications, including optical waveguide devices, laser devices, photoelectric conversion devices, optoelectronic coupling devices, polarization modulators, micro–nano photonic devices, nonlinear optical devices, optoelectronic display devices, optofluidic devices, planar optoelectronic devices, intelligent optoelectronic systems, and a wide range of newly developed optoelectronic devices.
This Special Issue of Symmetry, titled “Applications Based on Symmetry/Asymmetry in Optoelectronic Devices”, aiming to provide a high-level publishing platform for original theoretical calculations, simulation modeling, algorithms, material synthesis, structural design and processing, technological innovation, and industrial engineering applications, covering various achievements based on symmetry/asymmetry. We sincerely invite all researchers and experts in the field of optoelectronic materials and devices to submit your works to this Special Issue.

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Symmetry is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
