Building a Sustainable Sharing Economy: Corporate Responsibility, Integration and Innovation
This special issue belongs to the section “Economic and Business Aspects of Sustainability“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
In recent decades, the search for more sustainable economic models has intensified in the face of the environmental, social, and economic challenges that characterize the 21st century. Moreover, the growing relevance of the sharing economy has reshaped business paradigms, highlighting the need for new approaches that integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles with corporate strategy and management practices. In this context, the sharing economy emerges as an innovative alternative to the traditional consumption model based on ownership, promoting shared access to goods and services through digital platforms. When associated with the principles of sustainability, this approach transforms into a sustainable sharing economy, guided not only by efficiency and convenience but also by environmental, social, and corporate responsibility.
The proposed Special Issue, titled “Building a Sustainable Sharing Economy: Corporate Responsibility, Integration and Innovation”, aims to explore the intersection between sustainability, digital transformation, and collaborative economic models. For this Special Issue, we seek contributions that advance theoretical and empirical understanding of how organizations design, implement, and evaluate sustainable sharing models to create long-term value for stakeholders. Topics of interest include circular business models, responsible innovation, stakeholder engagement, sustainable entrepreneurship, and the role of technology in fostering collaborative consumption.
By bridging insights from sustainability studies, strategic management, and the corporate responsibility literature, this Special Issue will contribute to filling the current research gap between sustainable business transformation and the operationalization of sharing economy principles. Ultimately, it aims to provide a multidisciplinary platform for academics and practitioners to discuss integrated strategies that align profitability with social well-being and environmental preservation.
