Sustainable Digital Transformation: Pathways to Resilient Enterprises, Regions, and Nations

This special issue belongs to the section “Sustainable Management“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The twin transition—digital and green—holds transformative potential for industrial value chains, enabling significant reductions in waste and pollution. As organizations embrace digitalization and sustainability, these shifts become critical not only for environmental protection but also for business innovation and the advancement of circular economy principles. However, the transition is complex and fraught with uncertainty, requiring socially responsible, adaptive, and innovative management approaches. This Special Issue invites scholarly contributions that explore the challenges and opportunities of the digital transformation. We seek research that proposes novel frameworks, classification systems, evaluation methodologies, and decision-making models to support the evolution of business models toward sustainability. While Horizon Europe (2021–2027) prioritizes technologies such as advanced manufacturing, materials, micro/nano-electronics, photonics, AI, and connectivity, the human, organizational, and societal dimensions of transformation remain underexplored. We welcome studies in areas including, but not limited to, innovative technologies, social innovation, circular economy solutions, green business transformation, smart home technologies, Industry 5.0, and evolving societal behaviors and needs. These topics contribute to building a resilient and sustainable future. Contributions may include comprehensive reviews, empirical research, or case studies. All submissions will undergo rigorous peer review to ensure high-quality dissemination of findings that can inform resilient and sustainable development across enterprises, regions, and nations.
