Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The intersection between Industry 5.0 and sustainability has garnered much attention from policymakers, members of society, business professionals, investors, and researchers in an attempt to create a circular economy. The sustainability challenges of the 21st century led to climate change disasters and ecological damage, which demand the adoption of advanced digital solutions like artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics as powerful tools for addressing difficult sustainability problems. Many scholars acknowledge that the digital revolution could be a moderating factor in adopting circular economy principles. Despite the exigent need to address sustainability challenges, the intersectionality of Industry 5.0 and sustainability has remained largely neglected in the extant sustainability mainstream literature.
This Special Issue aims to push the existing frontiers of knowledge on sustainability, with a special focus on the intersectionality of Industry 5.0 and sustainability under digital revolution. It aligns with the journal’s scope, which emphasizes socio-economic sustainability and interdisciplinary approaches to sustainable development. Empirical and conceptual papers are invited from scholars, professionals, and policymakers who are interested in Industry 5.0 and sustainability. The papers that are selected will contribute to the emerging literature and offer new areas for further research on this topic. Please define the scope and purpose of the issue and its relationship to other literature on the topic. Topics may include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Human-centered technologies and eco-innovation;
- Collaborative robotics and smart manufacturing;
- Sustainable technology and ecological sustainability;
- Eco-efficient industries and circular economy;
- Human-Digital Twins (HDT) in sustainable development;
- Human-centric artificial intelligence and sustainability;
- Triple-Bottom-Line sustainability;
- Sustainable consumption and responsible production;
- Ethical considerations in Industry 5.0 technologies;
- Industry 5.0 technologies for renewable energy.
