This Special Issue, “Agentic AI-Driven Sustainable Logistics and Industry 4.0: Emerging Trends and Applications in Production, Remanufacturing, Warehousing, Agriculture and Transportation”, aims to explore how agentic artificial intelligence and Industry 4.0 technologies are transforming logistics and operational systems to support sustainable development. This issue focuses on autonomous and intelligent decision-making systems, digital twins, IoT, cyber–physical systems, smart analytics, and AI-enabled optimization across production, remanufacturing, warehousing, agriculture, and transportation.
The scope of this Special Issue includes theoretical, methodological, and empirical contributions addressing environmental, economic, and social sustainability challenges. Particular attention will be given to research that develops, measures, monitors, and evaluates sustainability performance through advanced digital technologies. Contributions may examine resource efficiency, energy consumption, carbon footprint reduction, circular economy practices, resilient supply chains, sustainable mobility, smart agriculture, and intelligent warehouse management.
This Special Issue seeks to bridge the gap between emerging agentic AI capabilities and sustainability-oriented operations management. While the existing literature has extensively investigated Industry 4.0 technologies and AI applications separately, limited attention has been paid to autonomous AI agents as enablers of sustainable and adaptive decision-making. By integrating sustainability assessment, operational intelligence, and digital transformation, this issue will provide new insights, frameworks, metrics, and practical applications that advance both sustainability science and smart industrial systems.
In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
