Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The rapid growth of cyber threats in today’s interconnected world has highlighted the urgent need for intelligent and adaptive defense mechanisms. Traditional rule-based and signature-based security systems are no longer sufficient against evolving attacks, especially those leveraging advanced technologies. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force in cybersecurity, offering new pathways for real-time attack detection, automated response, and proactive defense strategies.

This Special Issue aims to explore the intersection of AI, sensors and cybersecurity, showcasing the latest research developments, practical applications, and theoretical advances. By focusing on AI-enabled methods for detecting and mitigating cyber threats, we seek to highlight innovative approaches that strengthen digital resilience across critical infrastructures, cloud computing, IoT, and enterprise systems. The scope aligns with the journal’s mission to disseminate cutting-edge multidisciplinary research that addresses pressing technological and societal challenges.

We warmly invite researchers, practitioners, and experts from academia and industry to contribute original research articles, comprehensive reviews, and case studies. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • AI-driven intrusion detection and prevention systems;
  • Machine learning for malware and ransomware detection;
  • Deep learning for anomaly and threat detection;
  • Adversarial AI and security challenges;
  • Cyber threat intelligence and predictive analytics;
  • AI in IoT and cloud security;
  • Privacy-preserving AI for cybersecurity;
  • Case studies and real-world applications of AI in security.

We look forward to receiving your valuable contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
