Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Wearable sensors, including inertial measurement units (IMUs), electromyography (EMG), and pressure sensors, have become integral to the study of human posture and motion. These technologies enable precise, real-time data collection, rendering them important tools in fields such as biomechanics, rehabilitation, sports performance, and activity monitoring. Recent advances, particularly in multimodal sensor fusion and data-driven design, have significantly enhanced the capability of wearable sensors to classify and interpret complex motion patterns while addressing challenges such as data variability and usability.
This Special Issue aims to present cutting-edge research on the development and application of wearable sensors for posture and motion recognition. We welcome the submission of papers on a wide range of topics, including multimodal sensor integration, machine learning for motion classification, clinical and sports-related applications, and methods to improve data standardization and interpretability. By highlighting both technological and methodological advancements, this Special Issue seeks to provide a platform for interdisciplinary collaboration and facilitate the translation of wearable sensor research into practical solutions.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Multimodal sensor fusion for motion recognition;
- Machine learning methods for motion classification and prediction;
- Clinical applications of wearable sensors in rehabilitation and healthcare;
- Data standardization, reliability, and interpretability challenges;
- Innovations in wearable sensor technology and design;
Real-time feedback systems for healthcare and sports performance.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
