Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The rapid expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) in various domains has paved the way for innovative applications and transformative technologies. However, the massive connectivity and data exchange inherent in IoT environments have also raised substantial security and privacy concerns. In response, blockchain technology has emerged as a promising solution due to its decentralized, tamper-proof, and transparent nature. This Special Issue of Sensors will explore blockchain-based solutions designed specifically to secure IoT ecosystems. We invite contributions that address the integration of blockchain with IoT devices, frameworks for enhancing data integrity, and innovative consensus mechanisms tailored to resource-constrained environments. Papers that propose comprehensive strategies combining cryptographic techniques and smart contracts to mitigate common IoT vulnerabilities are especially welcome. By merging the strengths of blockchain technology with the dynamic needs of IoT security, we envision a future where secure and efficient data management frameworks underpin a vast array of connected devices.

We look forward to receiving your submissions, which will help drive breakthroughs in securing IoT through blockchain innovations. The following is a list of relevant topics for this Special Issue:

  • Security attack of blockchain-based IoT systems;
  • Blockchain-based architectures for secure IoT systems;
  • Privacy-preserving mechanisms using blockchain in the IoT;
  • Blockchain-enabled access control and authentication;
  • AI-enabled blockchain-based solutions to secure IoT;
  • AI and blockchain-enhanced secure IoT system;
  • Trusted computing and TEE for blockchain-based IoT systems;
  • Secure data sharing and storage using distributed ledgers;
  • Scalability and energy efficiency challenges in blockchain–IoT systems;
  • Integrating blockchain with AI technology in IoT

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
