Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The field of Intelligent Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is rapidly evolving, moving beyond traditional input devices to create seamless, intuitive, and deeply integrated experiences. At the heart of this transformation lies the critical role of sensing technologies. This Special Issue aims to explore the latest advancements in intelligent sensing that are shaping the next generation of human-centered interaction. We invite original research and comprehensive reviews that investigate how novel sensor systems, from miniature wearables to ambient environmental arrays, are enabling more natural, adaptive, and context-aware interactions.
This collection directly aligns with the scope of Sensors by focusing on the design, development, and application of sensor technologies that capture, interpret, and respond to human actions, physiological states, and intentions. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, sensor fusion for activity and gesture recognition, wearable sensors for affective computing and cognitive load assessment, embedded systems for spatial computing in mixed reality, and ubiquitous sensor networks for smart environments. We are particularly interested in contributions that address key challenges in ergonomics, usability, accessibility, and real-world impact, emphasizing how sensor innovation can lead to more trustworthy, ethical, and inclusive intelligent systems. By bringing together interdisciplinary work from HCI, AI, robotics, and human factors, this Special Issue will highlight the pivotal role of sensing in creating technology that truly understands and adapts to its users.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
