Dear Colleagues,
Sustainable Intelligent Manufacturing (SIM) integrates the principles of sustainability with smart manufacturing solutions. SIM uses smart technologies throughout the product development to achieve the best sustainability outcomes. Sustainability involves reducing environmental impact through effective waste and energy consumption management and control. Smart manufacturing achieves sustainability by collecting data via sensors and processing it via data-driven (AI/ML) models and using the new knowledge to optimize the manufacturing operation for sustainability.
This Special Issue seeks high-quality contributions on SIM research, technology, and practices. Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manufacturing systems leveraging AI/ML for sustainability;
- Digital transformation and its impact on Sustainable Intelligent Manufacturing;
- Additive and Hybrid manufacturing for sustainability;
- Product design for sustainable manufacturing;
- Advanced Data Analytics in Sustainable Intelligent Manufacturing;
- Intelligent Supply Chains for Sustainability;
- Advanced technologies for Sustainable manufacturing, such as IoT, robotics, and sensor fusion;
- Economics of Sustainable manufacturing;
- Workforce development in Intelligent Sustainable Manufacturing.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
