Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Functional water, which is water that has been treated or modified in some way to have specific benefits, is being explored for new applications in a variety of industries, including agriculture and veterinary medicine.

In agriculture, functional waters such as hydrogen water and HOCl (hypochlorous acid) water are being investigated as potential tools for improving crop growth and yield, as well as reducing the need for chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

In veterinary medicine, electrolyzed functional water is being studied for its potential to improve animal health, decrease infectious disease, and reduce the need for antibiotics and other medications.

Functional waters are used to improve health and are now beginning to be used industry to give more health benefits through the production of safe, high-quality food such as vegetables, fruits, meat and fish.

The device industry for functional water production has been growing rapidly, and it enables the easy application of functional water in several fields of industry.

The contents of this Special Issue, ‘Application of functional water in industry’, will help to improve our understanding of functional water use in industry and give academic information for the proper use of functional water in each industrial field.

This Special Issue on “Application of Functional Water on Industry” aims to recruit valuable academic research results and information regarding functional water applications in industrial fields including agriculture, veterinary medicine, forestry, fishery, pet industry, disease control and devices. Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Application of functional water in industry;
  • Application of hydrogen water and HOCl water in agriculture and veterinary medicine;
  • Application of functional water in food processing and storage;
  • Application of functional water in sanitation and stink management in the livestock industry;
  • Application of functional water to the prevention and treatment of infectious disease in veterinary medicine and disease control;
  • The methods, skills and devices related to functional water application.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
