Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

With the rapid advancement of nanotechnology in materials science, biomedicine, energy, and environmental science, the controllable fabrication and functionalization of nanoparticles has emerged as a frontier research focus. Host–guest chemistry and supramolecular self-assembly strategies provide powerful tools for precise nanoparticle design. Through non-covalent interactions between macrocyclic host molecules (such as cucurbituril, cyclodextrins, calixarenes, pillararenes, crown ethers, etc.) and guest molecules, precise control over the size, morphology, surface properties, and functions of nanoparticles can be achieved, thereby endowing them with unique physicochemical properties and responsive behaviors.

This Special Issue on "Supramolecular Assembly Processes for Nanoparticle Engineering" aims to collect recent advances in this field and discuss the design, fabrication, characterization, and interdisciplinary applications of nanoparticles based on host–guest interactions. Topics include, but are not limited to, methods and/or applications in the following areas:

  • Nanoparticle synthesis and controllable assembly strategies based on host–guest chemistry;
  • Design and application of novel macrocyclic host molecules in nanomaterial fabrication;
  • Host–guest regulation of stimuli-responsive (pH, light, temperature, redox, enzyme, etc.) nanoparticles;
  • Surface functionalization and supramolecular modification of nanoparticles;
  • Applications of host–guest-assembled nanocarriers in drug delivery and targeted therapy;
  • Design and construction of theranostic nanoplatforms;
  • Applications of host–guest nano-assemblies in catalysis and energy conversion;
  • Theoretical calculations and molecular simulations of host–guest self-assembly mechanisms;
  • Advanced characterization techniques and performance evaluation methods for nanoparticles;
  • Scalable preparation and process optimization of host–guest nanomaterials;
  • Innovative applications of biomimetic host–guest systems in nanotechnology.

We invite experts and scholars in relevant fields to submit manuscripts and share their latest research findings and insights. All submissions will undergo rigorous peer review to ensure academic quality.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
