Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Membranes and coatings are primary applied for the barrier protection of various substrates in their typical environments. Such materials are employed in a myriad of applications, such as concrete protection or repair, water purification, gas separation processes and emerging applications such as fuel cells and lithium batteries. Their numerous advantages are affected by several factors, such as formation and ageing processes, their life cycle and the surrounding environment, just to mention a few. It is a hot topic with a constant need for novel findings and developments. This Special Issue aims to contribute to increase the knowledge surrounding this field, assembling different works regarding protective membranes and coatings for application in cementitious substrates, which, in turn, can interact with their surroundings (i.e., pH, temperature, conductivity, self-healing, etc.).
Contributions can be submitted in the form of research papers and review articles concerning novel developments. Other contributions can also be considered upon request.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
