Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Functional fillers have become one of the key drivers in the development of advanced polymer materials. Beyond their conventional role as reinforcing or cost-reducing additives, modern fillers are increasingly engineered to provide tailored mechanical, thermal, electrical, barrier, flame-retardant, antimicrobial, and sensing functionalities. Simultaneously, growing environmental concerns and sustainability requirements have accelerated the development of bio-based, renewable, and low-carbon filler systems for next-generation polymer composites.
This Special Issue aims to gather high-quality contributions focused on the latest advances in functional polymer fillers, including their design, modification, characterization, processing, and applications. Particular attention will be paid to innovative carbon-based fillers, nanofillers, bio-based and waste-derived fillers, hybrid filler systems, surface modification approaches, filler–polymer interfacial interactions, and structure–property relationships governing composite performance.
Contributions addressing both fundamental research and industrial applications are welcome. Topics may include thermoplastics, thermosets, elastomers, coatings, adhesives, additive manufacturing materials, and multifunctional polymer composites. Review articles providing critical perspectives on emerging trends in the field are also encouraged.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
