Dear Colleagues,
Polymer-based membranes and functional biomaterials have become indispensable in modern biomedical engineering due to their tunable physicochemical properties, biocompatibility, and broad therapeutic potential. This Special Issue aims to highlight recent advances in both natural and synthetic polymer-based membranes and related biomaterials for biomedical applications. We welcome original research articles, reviews, and communications on the design, fabrication, characterization, functionalization, and clinical translation of biomaterials derived from natural polymers, such as silk fibroin, cellulose, collagen, chitosan, gelatin, and alginate, as well as synthetic polymers, including polycaprolactone (PCL), polylactic acid (PLA), poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA), polyethylene glycol (PEG), polyurethane (PU), poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF), and their composites. Topics include membranes, hydrogels, scaffolds, nanofibrous systems, films, and multifunctional biomaterials for drug delivery, tissue engineering, wound healing, biosensing, antimicrobial therapies, regenerative medicine, and precision healthcare. Contributions involving advanced manufacturing, nanotechnology, biofabrication, stimuli-responsive materials, surface engineering, and translational biomedical applications are particularly encouraged.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
