Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Quantum electro-optics and optomechanics constitute fundamental pillars of modern quantum photonics, critical for exploring coherent light–matter interactions at the quantum scale. Rooted in electro-optic modulation and radiation-pressure-based optical-mechanical coupling, these fields break the constraints of classical optics. With the rapid development of micro-nano photonic integration and quantum control techniques, quantum electro-optics and optomechanics have evolved into a fast-growing and interdisciplinary research hotspot.
Optomechanical coupling and quantum electro-optic response give rise to distinctive quantum phenomena, including coherent quantum transduction, nonclassical light generation and ultra-sensitive optical measurement. High-Q microcavities, integrated photonic waveguides and on-chip optomechanical platforms provide versatile experimental carriers for investigating light–mechanics coupling effects, laying a solid foundation for next-generation quantum optoelectronic devices.
This Special Issue welcomes original research and review articles focusing on advances in quantum electro-optics and optomechanics. It aims to showcase the latest theoretical progress and experimental breakthroughs, with focuses on light manipulation, quantum regulation and high-precision sensing. Scope topics include, but are not limited to:
- Cavity optomechanics and quantum light–matter coupling
- Quantum electro-optic modulation and coherent signal processing
- On-chip integrated optomechanical photonic devices
- Nonclassical light control via optomechanical systems
- High-sensitivity sensing based on electro-optics and optomechanics
- Microcavity photonics and quantum optical interfaces
- Theoretical modeling and experimental realization of hybrid quantum optomechanical systems

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Photonics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
