Innovation is revolutionizing healthcare in the pharmaceutical sector, bringing hope and the joy of living to millions of patients every year. Advances in biotechnology, genomics, artificial intelligence, and personalized medicine are increasingly accelerating the development of new treatments. One area of particularly significant progress is the emergence of smart drug delivery systems. These systems are designed to respond to specific internal or external triggers, potentially enhancing the effectiveness of targeted drug delivery while reducing side effects, thereby improving patient adherence to treatment and ensuring therapeutic success. Most of these systems are still in their early stages and have not yet been integrated into routine manufacturing processes, but they are worth knowing, refining and, hopefully, introducing in manufacturing.
