Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The most prevalent dental infections are dental caries and periodontal, endodontic, and implant-related infections. They are mainly of polymicrobial origin and caused by various combinations of viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Many of these infections occur as biofilms that act as a barrier to antimicrobial agents, presenting a treatment challenge.
The oral cavity and dental tissues present a unique and challenging environment that may impair the penetration and effect of antimicrobial substances, limiting their therapeutic potential. Thus, effective drug delivery and understanding their pharmacokinetics are paramount.
We invite authors to submit original research and review articles on contemporary conventional and nanotechnology-based innovative drug delivery systems that will help us reach a better understanding of the management of dental infections.
