Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Cancer is a disease characterized by the development of abnormal cells that divide uncontrollably and can infiltrate and destroy tissues. This disease is the most common malignant neoplasm among women worldwide, making it a major public health problem. Conventional cancer treatments such as chemotherapies, immunotherapy and targeted therapies are effective until the cancer becomes resistant to the treatment. In this respect, there must be a range of treatment options.
MiRNAs are small non-coding RNA sequences with a length of about 20 nucleotides that regulate gene expression. Their deregulation is associated with cancer, where they can function as oncogenes or tumor suppressors, playing a critical role in tumor biology. In this context, the restoration of miRNA expression or inhibition of overexpressed miRNAs can normalize their function by reversing tumor cell phenotypes. Therefore, the development of miRNA-based therapeutic strategies has gained increasing relevance in cancer research. In addition, miRNA dysregulation may contribute to the identification of potential biomarkers of treatment resistance in cancer. Altogether, these findings position miRNAs as promising therapeutic tools in cancer management, while their dysregulation may also enable the identification of potential biomarkers of treatment resistance.
The journal Pharmaceuticals invites both reviews and original articles that shed light on advances in the therapeutic uses of miRNAs for cancer treatment. The collection of manuscripts will be published as a Special Issue of the journal.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Pharmaceuticals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2900 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
