Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The field of hip and knee surgery has witnessed remarkable progress in recent years, driven by technological innovations, refined surgical techniques, and an evolving understanding of joint biomechanics and patient-specific needs. This Special Issue, “Recent Advances in Hip and Knee Surgery”, aims to collect high-quality original research articles, reviews, and clinical studies that explore the latest developments in this rapidly evolving area.

Key topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Minimally invasive and muscle-sparing surgical approaches;
  • Robotic-assisted and computer-navigated surgery;
  • Advances in implant design, biomaterials, and fixation techniques;
  • Patient-specific instrumentation and 3D planning;
  • Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols and perioperative optimization;
  • Strategies for managing complex cases and revision surgeries;
  • Prevention and treatment of complications, such as infection, dislocation, and implant loosening;
  • Long-term outcomes and survivorship analysis;
  • Kinematic alignment and personalized surgical strategies;
  • Integration of artificial intelligence and digital health tools in joint arthroplasty.

The goal of this Special Issue is to provide orthopedic surgeons, researchers, and healthcare professionals with a comprehensive overview of current trends and future directions in hip and knee surgery. By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and sharing evidence-based innovations, this collection seeks to contribute to the improvement of surgical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and long-term joint function in both primary and revision arthroplasty.

We welcome contributions from both clinical and basic science perspectives, encouraging international collaboration and diverse methodologies that reflect the complexity and dynamism of contemporary orthopedic practice.
