Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Glucose homeostasis and energy balance are central to metabolic health, and their disruption underlies major disorders such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome. Diet and nutrition are critical modulators of these processes, shaping systemic metabolism through complex cellular and molecular mechanisms. This Special Issue highlights recent advances in understanding how specific nutrients, dietary patterns, and bioactive food compounds regulate glycemic control and energy balance across biological scales, from single-cell dynamics to organ crosstalk and whole-body physiology, with a particular emphasis on their role in weight management.

We welcome original research and reviews utilizing diverse methodologies, including organoid models, omics technologies, animal studies, clinical trials, and bioinformatic approaches. Contributions addressing nutrient–gene interactions; hormonal regulation; gut–liver–brain axis signaling; and the influence of diet and nutrients on emerging therapies, such as metabolic surgery or pharmacological agents, are particularly encouraged. Studies that integrate mechanistic insights with translational or clinical relevance will receive priority.

Through this Special Issue, we aim to provide a comprehensive perspective on how dietary and nutritional strategies can modulate glucose and energy homeostasis, promote metabolic health, and support the prevention and treatment of obesity and related metabolic diseases.

Manuscript Submission Information

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Nutrients is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
